InterContinental Residences Saigon
Ranked #69 of 472 Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City
Reviewed March 25, 2014

After a rough trip on the Mekong Delta, we felt a little embarrassed walking into the Residences in our bedraggled state. The front desk staff could not have been kinder to us, however, and upgraded us to a three-bedroom suite in honor of our wedding anniversary. When we opened the door to our suite, our mouths hit the floor. It was absolutely stunning. We walked into a huge kitchen, complete with dishes, utensils, and even a rice maker. The dining room table sat at least six people, and the living room was massive with a huge TV. A large balcony was located right off the living room area. It was absolutely wonderful to relax on the couches after a long week of travel.

The two "smaller" bedrooms were large in size, and at least one contained a desk that would be perfect if you need to conduct work on your vacation. They also contained ample closet space. There was a large bathroom in the hallway that contained a shower as well. The master bedroom was superb, with a luxurious bed and ample views of Ho Chi Minh City. The master bathroom contained two sinks, and a large separate bathtub and shower. The toilet made a funny "ding ding" sound every time someone sat down, which made us giggle the whole trip. Additionally, the Wi-Fi strength was great, and it was even strong enough to handle FaceTime calls.

One added benefit to staying at the Residences = a washing machine! After traveling for more than a week, it was wonderful to wash some clothes and not have to pay exorbitant costs for laundry. The laundry room closet contained a drying rack and a packet of detergent.

The concierge was amazing. From sending us a complimentary anniversary cake to securing us tickets to the water puppet theatre, we were blown away by the exemplary service. The Residences are within walking distance to the war museum and the water puppet theater, along with other key sites. Additionally, the Residences are connected to a small mall area that contains a posh convenience store and a variety of upscale chain restaurants.

If we could move into the Residences permanently, we would do it in heartbeat. We absolutely loved our stay here.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon Residences in February with my wife and 2 boys. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment, which was far nicer than my first home and pretty much on par with almost every 5 star hotel we've ever stayed in.

Positives:
Both intercontinental hotels are connected to a approximately 20 store/food establishment shopping plaza, which obviously has office buildings attached to it as well. You can easily walk between the hotels through the mall, and never leave air conditioning. While the Residences only contain one choice for food in the lobby...You can easily go to the hotel property and eat there. It's about a 2 min walk.
The Shopping Plaza contains a convenience/small grocery store, and you can easily stock your residence with basic food items from there. This property does contain people who live here for weeks or months on end.
There is a wide range of food establishments in the shopping plaza, including a decent coffee place. The food at Market 39 (Buffet) was extremely good, and had a nice a great selection with great service as well.
The hotel is within walking to distance to a wide range of sightseeing, shops, and food options.
There are actually quite a few options to eat, although if your palate is limited...There are several options in the Plaza connected to the hotel. Taxis are also rather inexpensive by western standards, and are easily obtained at your hotel.
The Hotel room itself was extremely comfortable, the Wifi worked well, and frankly after staying there the kids are lobbying for a washlet to be installed in their bathroom.
In my opinion, the level of service in Asian hotels is dramatically improved over their western counterparts and this property was no exception. Everyone there made our entire family truly feel special.
Negative (Minor):
The pool at the residences does not get much direct sunlight, so despite the very warm days in Saigon..The pool is probably cooler than most people would like. As the Residences do not have access to the Hotel's pool. The fitness center, and the entire area was extremely well maintained, and there was a kids play room which my younger son did appreciate.

This is clearly the nicest hotel I've been to in Vietnam, and one of the best I've stayed in anywhere. I would not hesitate to suggest this property to even the pickiest traveler, and would be hard pressed to say elsewhere when returning to this area. It's truly a great place.

Room Tip: Higher floors will have less noise.

I stayed recently at the residences and had a 2 bedroom suite. This room category was simply divine, very spacious, great beds and very well appointed all around. The hotel has a great gym, outside pool and lots of restaurant choices, grocery store and a coffee bean shop. Perfect stay for either a business trip or family stay.

We stayed here for only one night but would definitely come back again later. It's very convenience if you have business with the embassies in the area. We paid using points. The rate is the same as the hotel (on the opposite end of the building), but it is much roomier due to the fact that it has a full kitchen and a separate living room area. There are also a washer & dryer for long term staying as well. The on-site restaurants are good options if you don't want to venture far out. We couldn't find any good options within walking distance. The breakfast buffet is on the hotel side and has decent selection.

We did not choose this hotel because it was the pre Mekong cruise hotel chosen by Avalon Waterways. It was a welcoming and friendly hotel that more than met our expectations. The staff were exceptional. For a tourist, the hotel is in a great location...so convenient. The room, bedding and room facilities were 5 star. The TV was excellent and easy to use. The breakfast was as good as you get with a wide selection...far more than we could sample in our 3 day stay. Just off the foyer is a polite well dressed young man who will polish your shoes with enthusiasm and your shoes will say thank you! Sit upon the huge chair and he will get to work. Even if your shoes
don't need a shine...do it anyway. We would definitely like to stay and enjoy this hotel again.

Room Tip: Our room looked over the PostOffice and Notre Dame.

We only stayed here for one night in the most luxurious serviced apartment I have ever stayed in . The front desk staff were so helpful. The apartment was so highly finished we almost didn't go out for dinner. The bed and bedding were sooooo comfortable. The concierge helped book the most amazing in demand restaurant. We really didn't want to leave the next day. Everything was so close, all the shops and sights etc. if you want to stay in luxury at an affordable price then look no further.

We did move after to another hotel only because we were apart of a Uniworld River cruise Tour- and they use the Park Hyatt Saigon. Not near as modern and as nice as this hotel.

but our room at the residence (don't get the two confused as there is an actual Intercontinental hotel attached to the residence) was amazing!! I took a video of it, but cannot add it here... sorry. It had a separate bedroom, living room, and kitchen.

The bathroom was huge. Nice big tub and rainshower.

The restaurants in the hotel are great too if you don't know where to eat and don't want to run the risk of getting sick.

We enjoyed having the washer and dryer in room as we were going to be there for 3 weeks.

Room Tip: I don't think it matters where you get your room. Ours was facing the street, but it was silent...
