If you're planning to do all the tourist sites in district one then this is a perfect location to start from.

Literally round the corner from Ben Thanh market, and an easy stroll to the reunification and museums.

The price is reasonable and no complaints could be made regarding the room. It was clean, spacious and had all the ammenities you could want. The bathroom was of a high standard and had an excellent power shower.

I didn't have too much interaction with the staff but they were always friendly when I did, and would recommend the hotel to anyone who is in Saigon for a few days doing the tourist trail.

Room Tip: I had a room on the 7th floor and was not troubled by any noise from the busy District 1. Ask to be...

For visiting the tourist attractions in District 1, the Sanouva Hotel was great. A couple of minutes from Ben Thanh market and a short walk to the Reunification Palace and the Notredame Cathedral. The rooms and bathrooms are a good size, very clean and smart, and there was free wifi signal throughout. The walls are a little thin, but luckily we were on the 7th floor so there was no traffic noise. Breakfast was a small buffet which was fine before a day out, although there aren't many tables for the amount of rooms. I'd recomend this for it's location and good value to travellers wanting a convenient stay.

I stayed here for 4 nights in January 2012. It was a very nice hotel. Location was perfect in the old part of town, close to the Ben Thanh Market. My room was very comfortable. I slept well.
Breakfast was buffet style & was very good.
I am happy to recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Rooms are pretty sparse, but they get the job done. Air conditioning and wi-fi worked perfectly. Withing walking distance of the Market and War History Museum. Staff was very personable. Walls can be a bit thin - so difficult if your neighbors are loud....

We stayed here twice, once on our way to Phu Quoc and then on the way back. Both rooms were very spacious, comfortable with good bathrooms and a good "rainforest" shower. It's very convenient for getting around and seeing the main sights which we did mainly on foot. Extremely good value for money. The staff were lovely, calling "welcome back, nice to see you again" when we arrived the second time. Whether they remember us or not, it was a nice touch.

Room Tip: Bothe rooms we had were spacious, with comfortable beds and great showers

Had ordered a Sanouva deluxe room for 3 nights end January. On arrival receptionist claimed that I had booked two rooms so if I only needed 1 I had to pay a cancellation fee.
A 15 minutes discussion followed were I pointed out that this was a mistake by the hotels sales department. Finally and a few phonecalls later the receptionist gave in...not a very nice way to start a holiday in Saigon.
Room was very nice, not too big, facing street on eight floor. Insulation was good as one could hardly hear any traffic noice. Breakfast was ok though not fancy at small tables seating 4 persons but actually not more than 2 normal size scandinavians. Staff very friendly but language skills very elementary. Thien Bien market just around the corner.
2 free internet stations. Steep stairs from street level to reception can make it difficult for people with walking difficulties

Entered hotel and reception kept eyes down and spoke between themselves for a good few minutes, before registering I was there...not a great start. The English on that occasion was pretty poor too, but it must have been a once off as on all other occasions they were attentive, good English, and very helpful.
The room was a little tired, but the bed was comfortable. Sadly the TV had a problem with the main English film channel which couldn't be fixed, and the hotel was full so couldn't change rooms. Fresh fruit was provided in the room and a bottle of water (200ml) everyday. The cleaning staff were very chatty and could be heard in the corridors from an early hour.
Breakfast was included in the the room price, and was really great, with a good variety of Eastern and Western available, buffet style. Just a shame there was a bit of an odd pong across the dining/reception area most of the time.
Fixed Laptops were available for use in the reception area for internet use, and the hotel also had wifi.
There is a small bar but very very limited choice of drinks.
The price of the room seemed a little high for the quality, but then the hotel is right next to Ben Thanh markets. I probably wouldn't stay there again due to having stayed at others cheaper and of slightly better quality

Room Tip: I've heard the higher rooms are quieter
