“New Rooms, Outstanding Service, and Great Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2009

This was my first trip to Vietnam to visit my Grandmother. I found this place on Facebook of all places. I was looking for a great price, but clean and modern- I found it! The rooms look brand new! No old green comforters here. Free wi-Fi in the rooms. Nice city views, free breakfast. The list goes on.

I worked with Kevin- he's even on Skype! Communication was clear and concise.

I cannot say enough nice things about this cute little hotel. We not only traveled with small children (20 mos and 4 yrs), but we traveled with about 10 other friends. They accommodated all of us in various rooms, gave us personalized service and made us feel very well- cared for.

Highly recommended, best value.

We stayed at this hotel because of the strong reviews on TA and the comments about the nearby seafood street. Overall, this is a decent hotel, but we were disappointed.
This was our third brief visit to HCMC in the last six months. Next time, we will go back to more centrally located hotels in District 1, even if it costs a few extra bucks -- there is value in staying at a hotel that is near the shops and restaurants that you will likely want to visit. Though the location of this hotel is not desirable, it is no less noisy than hotels in the heart of the city - I've stayed at hotels in district 1 and heard no street noise in the room.
We booked the suite, which is a good sized room with a separate sitting area. The carpet was already filthy but the bathroom was clean and spacious. The bed was pretty comfortable.
The staff is not particularly friendly, but that is the norm in HCMC (based on our experience). When we checked out, they pulled the "credit card machine is broken” routine because they wanted cash. I insisted on using my credit card and, of course, the machine was working. The clerk even tried the "hold the card upside down trick" when running it through the card reader, but they weren't too insistent or nasty about it.
Had a fun and good late-night meal on the seafood street mentioned in a couple of reviews, but you don't have to go there for this type of experience. According to a local friend who joined us for dinner, these types of restaurants are in many neighborhoods. We did not try the included breakfast, so we can't comment.
In summary, the hotel and service were ok, but I would not stay there again due to the location. Tip – don’t rely on a TA rating until there are a relatively large number of reviews.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at Thien Thao Hotel and wished we had chosen somewhere else after the first couple of nights. We suffered from sleep deprivation due to loud, cheesy music being played by the cinema opposite. We changed rooms but this didn't help. The music would start at around 6:30am and go until around 10:30pm. It might have been later on the weekend and I found it much harder to ignore than the traffic noise (the Vietnamese love honking their motorcycle and car horns every few seconds).

The breakfast menu was very limited with a choice of noodles, wonton soup or eggs and bread. There was no fresh fruit, not even juice. However, on the positive side, from the breakfast area downstairs we could help ourselves to sachets of coffee (with powdered milk and sugar, not great but drinkable), tea and water at any time during the day or night.

There wasn't much of interest close to the hotel. We walked to the downtown area a few times and it took around an hour. It was a good way to explore but there wasn't much of interest on the way. Taxis cost between US$2 and $3, depending on how well we bargained. There was a limited choice of good places to eat near the hotel. A Vietnamese pancake chain restaurant nearby was the best option. A pizza restaurant a few doors down the street was also fine but we preferred to eat Vietnamese food. Other places nearby didn't have menus in English and I was not brave enough to eat at them when one restaurant menu showed pictures of a menagerie of animals including rats, snakes, guinea pigs, dogs and cats, all of which could be ordered for dinner.

I've lived on and off in Vietnam for 2 years and traveled throughout the country extensively. This hotel was the best combination of quality and value that I have experienced. Hotel is very new. Everything very clean and well kept. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Wi-Fi is complimentary of course and as fast as any place I've stayed at in HCMC. Location is ideal in my opinion - central enough to be convenient (about 5-10 minutes by motor bike or 10-15 minutes by taxi from the central District 1 locations, i.e. Opera House, Saigon Center, etc) but not too close to the action to be loud at all hours of the night. I have never given all 5's (see below) to any hotel. I gave higher ratings to this hotel than any I've stayed at in HCMC, including everything from $20 - $200 a night.

This hotel is located in District 3 but close enough to District 1 to be able to get to all the usual attractions easily either walking or taxi etc. It's mainly a business hotel with great rooms and an endless supply of hot water in spotless bathrooms! The staff are always on hand and all requests were met with enthusiasm and promptness, great service. The location of this hotel was a revelation, if you want to experience the real side of Saigon without the hassle you seem to get in District 1 then I would definately recommend this hotel, Outside in the local area , No-one tried to overcharge us for anything, all were welcoming and seemed surprised & pleased to see foreigners as if we were a bit of a novelty! Located close to the hotel is a small street 'Nguyen Thuong Hien' which at night is alive with some of the best seafood street food we have ever tasted. I apologise if 'Saigon-ers' are trying to keep this street a secret but it really is too good not to share. As the only foreigners there for 4 nights running (it's really that good!)
we went through most of the menu sitting on tiny plastic chairs watching the food being cooked from fresh whilst watching the local life go by. Don't miss this if you like seafood just pick any of the really busy stalls with seating about half way up the street.

We stayed at this hotel twice on our trip in Vietnam - first for 2 nights and then again for another 3 at the end of our trip. On the fist trip we stayed in a standard type room which we paid $25 US for a night - the bedding configuration was one queen and 1 large single for our son. The room was a little cramped but clean, well serviced with extremely comfortable beds. The second time we stayed we 'splashed out' and spent $50 on getting the suite, the most expensive room in the hotel. For this we got a lovely room with a king size bed, a seperate area (although within the same room) with a sofa coffee table tv fridge etc. Our son slept on the couch and it was not extra cost althought they would have been happy to put an extra bed in for a fee, the couch was fine though and they gave us extra linen. They offer tours but they in no way pushed them onto us, my husband went on the one they offered which was a $12 trip out to the Mekong Delta - a full day trip. The hotel is more of an agent than a tour guide and I think that with the tour you get what you pay for. The stay included free breakfast (which was fine - eggs, pho, bread and cheese, etc) there is free tea and coffee (neither great but OK) in the lobby and also 3 free computers for checking emails on. The hotel is in district 3, which is quiet from a tourist point of view and we were never ripped off in shops, or pestered to buy things whilst in this area. There is a great bakery called Duc Phat down the road as well. Its walking distance to district one and all the tourist attractions.
