“Great value, great staff”
Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for two nights and were impressed at the clean and bright rooms (we lucked in with a balcony on the fifth floor) friendly and helpful staff and the complimentary breakfast.
Only mild downside was the nose from the very busy streets, but we were so tired from our traipsing around the city we quickly fell asleep.

Would highly recommend.

It was our first time in HCMC and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Seventy Hotel. Ms Hang was prompt in the email correspondences which made the room reservation smooth and swift. The other hotel staff were polite and helpful as well (one of them even warned us against our bags from being snatched while walking along the streets). The room was clean and beds are comfortable; it came with a lovely balcony view at level 5. Would recommend this place to first time travellers as it is located right in the heart of the backpackers district and is within walking distance to most tourist attractions. Definitely value for money!

Room Tip: For light sleepers, rooms at level 5 are quieter.

In the hope of booking a place that would sufficiently welcome us to our first Vietnamese adventure, we picked the Seventy hotel in the back-packer quarter of Saigon based on Tripadvisor commentary. How pleasantly surprised we were to receive a confirmation email almost instantaneously after booking online which included the offer of a personalised airport pickup. This email was only the start of an extremely pleasant stay for three nights where the hotel staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly to a fault. The room we had on level 5, at the back of the hotel was clean and comfortable and reduced the noise from a truly bustling and vibrant street life happening below.

Many pubs and dining areas to chose from in the immediate surrounds of the hotel although watch out for the "marawaana" sellers who were keen to obtain cash from any tourist wandering by...

We booked a half-day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels from the travel advisor office in the ground floor of the hotel, this trip was overall OK, with the orignial underground tunnels themselves being awesome. A general comment on this adventure is that its a long drive (4 hours in total - 2 hours+ each way by bus) for a 6-7 hour tour which includes a stop designed to get the tourist dollar. In saying this, this stop at the disadvantaged locals design/artist shop was incredible and if not for being poor travellers it would be easy to amass a range of quality goodies.

All in all a wonderful hotel that we would be most willing to stay at again in the future.

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel! The room was very good, the bed comfortable, and everything was clean! The breakfast is nice, and the staff very friendly. They teached me in vietnamese and even when there was a misunderstanding, they were always very friendly and we found a good solution for both of us! Really a nice place!

We stayed at the Seventy hotel earlier this week for 3 nights.

They organised a pick up from the airport, which although was expensive, went well and removed the need to deal with the notorious HCMC taxi drivers.

The location of the hotel is great. In the heart of backpacker District with East access to good bars and some decent food.

The room was small and basic, but that's what we'd paid for.

The staff were great and very helpful. We even booked our tour through the in house travel agent which was fine.

I'd definitely stay here again. It's definitely good value for money.

We stayed here 3 nights and our stay was pretty good. The fantastic reception staff were always helpful and were always on hand and happy to help and seamlessly accommodated our room swap after the first night.

Positives: Good value at $20 per night with breakfast, great location, very clean
Negatives: Rooms were very small for 2 people, A/C wasn't strong enough to cool the room down at times

Room Tip: Room 201 was just above the kitchen and retained some cooking odours. Also the noise from reception...

This hotel was the PERFECT location because it's in the heart of pretty much everything. Even though the street never sleeps, I didn't hear anything in my room. I have to admit, if you're not a backpacker (or don't know how to pack like one - and your suitcase seems to "explode" when you open it *looks in the mirror*), then the room can get a bit cramped if there is more than one person staying in the room. However, it is safe and the housekeeping is honest - which is great if you tend to lose things when you hide them, like a squirrel! The hotel is also very clean and will clean your laundry.

I have to rave about the staff. They were amazing and I fell in love with all of them! Not only were they honest, but super helpful, and super friendly. They are what I miss most about Seventy Hotel/Saigon. They helped me navigate around Saigon and recommended restaurants, stores, etc., when I mentioned I wanted to eat/buy something in particular.

Overall, this hotel is extremely affordable and the service far exceeds what you pay for per night. I would 100% recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for something convenient and budget-friendly.
