Description: A sense of Indochina located in the heart of the city Inspired by the movie “Indochine” by director Regis Wargnier, the Indochine Restaurant was opened right in the heart of a bustling street, yet still remains its isolated nature. Leaving behind any daily worries, customers will go on a pleasant journey as soon as he or she step into the grandiose old 19th century villa – where Indochine Saigon is located. Following the unique and excellent design, the Indochine Restaurant is skillfully divided into different room sections, from the separate cozy dining rooms to spacious and elegant ones, as if to bring customers back to the old Saigon. The beautiful garden adorned with a “cloud-shape” lake which is skillfully made by master craftsmen is eminently suitable for any outdoor parties or events. A beautiful and elegant designed public bar with dozens of types of drinks made from Vietnamese traditional fruit would bring great joy to any customer. With a wealth of experience and passion in their expertise, chefs in Indochine Restaurant have spent an adequate time to visit any corner of this country to discover, experience and, literally cook with regional inhabitants. From what they have experienced, chefs in Indochine Restaurant will capture the very essence of every meal they have tried and create such an extensive and colorful menu that we currently have. Customers can detect distinguishing smell and taste of different unique meals which could only be found in this restaurant. With the above special features, Indochine Restaurant would present the perfect choice to anyone who has a savor in Vietnamese cuisine

Was taken here as a part of Kuoni's "Trails of Vietnam" tour. Our guide said was one of the best in Saigon - he was wrong. Main restaurant was filled with a kids birthday party, so our group of 8 plus a few other groups were off-loaded to a back room, which looked nowhere near as nice as the rest of the restaurant. 3 musicians playing traditional Vietnamese music added atmosphere, which was otherwise lacking. We had a set menu, which was nothing special. The crab & sweetcorn soup had lots of small bits of crab shell in it.

It felt very much like we were on a production line. In and out in an hour, presumably to make way for the next party. Next course arrived before the previous one was finished. Service was average, food was average. Wouldn't bother recommending.

“large but quiet retaurant with excellent food despite catering to tour groups”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2012

We were brought here by our wonderful English speaking guide, Mr. Khang, from Oriental Bridge travel. It seemed to us that this restaurant caters mostly to Westerners, at least at lunch. We are always very wary of restaurants which caterer to tour groups, as we have had many bad experiences in the past. We came here of our own choice and ordered our lunch a la carte, which may have helped us avoid some of the results of the bad reviews of this restaurant. In our experience, both the food and the service was excellent, as a matter of fact it was so good that we returned the following day for another lunch. Our meal cost about $25 for 2 with a beer, a coke, a fruit smoothie, and 4 menu selections plus rice.

“Exceedingly pleasant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2011

We sat outside listening to some lively classical music and i have to say the food was certainly up to the task of satisfying our last night holiday demands.
I had two stunning milkshakes, one chocolate and one banana although the former took a considerable time in appearing.
The food was very good, soup, spring rolls, fish, fried rice and creme caramel seemed to attract compliments from all diners.
Only real gripe was the length of time it took the staff to sort out my change at the end of the meal. They seemed to lose track of who had paid what and there was a lot of tooing and froing before it was sorted to everyones satisfaction.

“same name Resto but much much different”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2011

As aprt of the tour we availed during our visit to HCMC was this resto.
The lawn is nice, its more like a garden of a private house, there;s a lot of ffruit bearing trees and a vintage car that's goof for photo-op.
The restaurant itself is in an old house, all the decorations were authentic antique as in the ambience is old world...
The staffs has limited Ebglish but there were some who can help you with your orders.
Since we prepaid and preordered our set menu we just need to order our drinks from a Vietnamese hat menu-this one's a nice touch.
We waited for our food, although I must admit its a letdown...I am hungry and ready to wolf down anyhting they will give me but its just a ot of parsley in all the food ...

“Avoid this like the plague”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2011

A terrible restaurant that masquerades as providing Vietnamese food. Con to clients when paying as they insist on cash (as the connection for credit cards does not work). A blot on the otherwise wonderful HCMC landscape.
