Lavender Central Hotel
Ranked #142 of 466 Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We booked the Lavender through our agent in Aus just to ensure we had somewhere to go to when we arrived on our first trip to Vietnam.
The hotel exceeded our expectations and began with the warm welcome by reception and doorman.
Room was on the small side with a tiny window but bathroom presented nicely. As we were not intending to spend a lot of time in our room, size was not an issue for us.
Location is excellent particularly being situated opposite the market and is a pleasant walk to many of the city sights.
Breakfast is simple but varies each day; includes fruits, pastries, yoghurt, cold meats, hot foods and an egg station.
After being in Saigon for a few days we decided to take a tour to the Mekong but first checked with hotel reception that we could extend our stay and return to the Lavender after the Mekong 3 day tour.
We were pleasantly surprised and grateful for a room upgrade upon our return. Room 601 is a spacious room with 2 windows overlooking the market and city.
I would recommend the Lavender to others and most certainly return.

Stayed our last two days in the Lavender, that has got a perfect location next to Ben Than market.
As usual in Vietnam our booking was lost and we were offered a standard twin room without a window instead of a superior twin with window. We agreed, because the booking was done by using air mileage and I did not want to hassle with a cancellation.
The room was quiet at night and the beds were large and comfy. The carpet was dirty, there were little things lying under the bed and in the wardrobe we found used slippers. Uuuh.
I complained at the front desk, they could not change it, because there exists only one vacuumcleaner in the hotel and they could only clean one floor per day. Uuuuh, again. This means, that each room will be cleaned about every 8-10 days with the vacuumcleaner. I still cannot believe this.
Brekkie was eatable, but nothing special and the selection of fruits in a country full of beautiful fruits was below zero. They had unripe pineapple on offer...
Front desk and doorman were super sweet.
Would not return.

There were 6 of us staying in Lavender Hotel in 3 rooms for 5 nights. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. We had the standard room which was quite small but was very comfortable with a very powerful shower and fruit and water brought to the room everyday. The breakfast was good with a wide variety of asian and western dishes. The location of the hotel is great. Right by Ben Thanh market but with none of the noise. For the price I would highly recommend. Only downside to this hotel is that they still advertise Vietnamese foot massage on their website and they don't do this anymore and their online booking system does not work very well. It is easy to make a booking by email though.

Room Tip: get the delux rooms if you want more space and a proper window

This hotel has an excellent location, close to Ben Than market, lots of optometrists to get your prescription glasses and contacts at an excellent price. Walking distance to the War Museum, designer shops and other major sites. The reception staff and bell boy are great, and you can organize sightseeing tours easily with them, pick up from the foyer. The rooms are clean, the showers are great, beds a bit hard and the pillows may see you needing to visit your osteopath once you get home. The down side is the breakfast. Yes, this is three star hotel, but having stayed at similar hotels in this country, the breakfast is really below standard and the staff - particularly the egg man who is just rude - are not interested in helping you out. Get some fresh fruit etc from the convenience store a few shops along from the hotel entrance.

Really appreciate for the helpfull and friendly staff, from the marketing representative, bell boy, security and the recepsionist.
I did enjoy the breakfast, never expect taht i would had a good breakfast because the low rates they gave me. The breakfast was good for 3 stars hotel, i can say the breakfast is more that good. And i enjoyed the balcony of the restaurant, small balcony but its ok for the smoker.
