“Excellent location but average hotel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2014 via mobile

The location of the Victory is superb - close to the War Remnants Museum and within walking distance to the CBD. the hotel itself is somewhat dated. The rooms are spacious enough but the constant music playing in the corridors, even at night, is a nuisance. the service was average - felt like the place is run by officials. The security outside was very helpful regarding transport etc. The breakfast was very average indeed and the only up drinkable coffee we had at any hotel in Vietnam. Well priced, however.

We stayed here for 2 nights and was suitable for us. Had a roof top pool we used, very nice and clean. We also liked the big bedrooms with air con. The hotel was pretty cool, being the old FBI families hotel. War museum around the corner. A great place to stay with great breakfast and great historical artefacts in the hotel. Very nice.

We have stayed at the Victory twice this year. It is a great hotel in a great location for getting around the city. I read some of the revues here and I was wondering what these people wanted. All the rooms we stayed in were bang up-to-date . The staff are very friendly and the buffet breakfast is good value. It is great to have a swimming pool right in the middle of the city The only fault we find is that furniture at the pool could be updated. But overall I would recommend itto anybody.

Room Tip: We usually get a room on the fourth floor at the rear . The higher up you go the less noise you get...

I used a special discount to stay at this hotel, so after the discount I was happy with the standard of hotel for the price I paid. However, I certainly wouldn't pay the full price!
The rooms are clean and big, but the bath plug didn't work so I couldn't use the bath. It said my room would provide facilities to make tea and coffee in the room, but only a kettle was provided.. No long life milk sachets, spoon, teacup, coffee or tea bags. The pool is really good. Very clean. And the buffet breakfast was average to ok. The biggest let down of the hotel was definitely the staff, apart from the security guards (who are lovely) all of the reception and dining room staff have a serious attitude problem, which you wouldn't expect at this level of hotel. I wouldn't recommend it.

Went there for Christmas day, though not a national holiday, full of foregine Christians.
the Spread was great and had lots of green salad and western plates. Most of all, the friendly service by the hotel/restaurant staff was remarkable.

This is really touch of "home" for us ex pats....

Merry Christmas!

Room Tip: only there for buffet

the hotel is not so great. staff seem cold and unhelpful. the rooms were just about bare-boned average. stayed in 3 other cities and hotels in vietnam in the same price bracket ... this being the most expensive and it was by far the worst out of the lot. it is though... EXTREMELY WELL located! bang in the middle of almost everything! i would deff select a different hotel next time i visit Saigon on the same budget. i didnt try out their pool or restaurant.
