“Really excellent restaurant”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

The idea of taking street kids and give them an education and future is so right. I was on the second floor in oriental cushion seating. But the food was superb. Started with a cocktail and fresh springrolls that was absolutely super. After that a bottle of argentina red wine and I got the chefs rib steak while my girlfriend got the grilled 5 duck. These plates was international standard. Could just as well has been in New York or Amsterdam. It was delicious. And the waiter was pofessional though his shirt was marked trainee. A really good evening. My last one in Vietnam this time.

“Excellent Vietnamese food!”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

This place really deserves all the highly rated reviews. I missed the breakfast in the hotel and decided to find a good place for lunch. Finally decided on Koto, although I already visited the Temple of Literature the day before. It was all worth the taxi ride! The Bun Cha and ice Vietnamese coffee tasted so good! Portion size was just nice. I was contemplating on the dessert and finally succumbed to it because they all looked so delicious! I ordered the carrot and walnut cake and loved it. Not too sweet and every mouthful had chunks of walnuts in it. To top it all off, the service staff were excellent! Well trained and attentive. Spoke good English too. Would definitely recommend this place to all visiting Hanoi.

“An Excellent Idea”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

Koto is a restaurant that takes 'street kids' and teaches them a trade, cooking, table waiter and general restaurant basics.
The restaurant has 2 levels, the first conventional seating, the second a compromise between western and oriental cushion seating and ottoman styles.
The service was efficient most of the time, and the food was of a good standard, well presented and of a good sized portion, although with less spice influence than most other restaurants I have eaten in, perhaps catering more towards a 'western palate'. Pricing was similar to most other restaurants of this standard.
Well worth an encounter, especially if you want to help with the philanthropic nature of the restaurant.

“Very cool, diving restaurant”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Read the reviews before going, which was good and bad. Went there and it was lovely. The food was good but the staff was super friendly and keen to help you. Really sweet. Worth going just for the good cause - right next to the temple of literature.
