“Overrated”

The place is filled with tourists who read that there are scorpions and similar exotic dishes on the menu. Well, there are no scorpions. Exotic stuff-ostridge,crocodile,crickets-each represented with one dish.
It is a restaurant with tourists in mind. And as such, just plainly wrong. Waitors do not really understand (did not get 2 things I ordered and the spring rolls were not fried, even though asked for it). Meals are not bad,but compared to some normal vietnamese restaurant with locals inside,it is very bad and expensive.

I honestly do not understand what the fuss is about. I'd avoid it for some local restaurant.

“Very good restaurant”

Take there by our uni student guides and very well worth the visit. Top class food, good service and minimalist prices. Would thoroughly recommend

“Good food but a bit pricey and smoking allowed”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

We were introduced to this restaurant by the hotel workers. I had a duck grilled with a certain type of leaves while my wife had a beef dish. Both were tasty and went well with the beer but with smokers around we left hurriedly although the atmosphere was boisterous and we were seated as in a Japanese/Korean restaurant where one can seat cross-legged or test them under the table. Prices seem slightly above average but we can't complain with the service and friendly staff.

“Trendy restaurant, poor understanding of order”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

The 'trendy, fashionable' set seemed to frequent this restaurant and receive very attentive service. We found it difficult to achieve understanding of our order, even though it was straight from the menu. Food was good when it came.

“Complete let down”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

Highway 4 came with several independent recommendations - Our hotel, Lonely Planet and a personal recommendation from a couple who dined there the previous night.

The specialities (catfish rolls, beef wrapped coconut and pumpkin parcels) were anything but. Food wasn't cooked well at all. Beef was very dry (either pre-cooked or over cooked), parcels were very oily and catfish just did nothing for the tastebuds.

Restaurant was nice enough to look at but we left really disappointed, especially since it came with rock solid recommendations. I travel for a living and try different cuisines in different settings weekly, I'd like to think I've a fair understanding of what qualifies good value and what people expect.

The food here wont kill you, and I'm sure they don't wash the dishes in the street BUT, there is a lot healthier, tastier, nicer and better value food in Vietnam. The countless locals in greasy spoon street cafe next door would probably be a good testament to that.
