The 'trendy, fashionable' set seemed to frequent this restaurant and receive very attentive service. We found it difficult to achieve understanding of our order, even though it was straight from the menu. Food was good when it came.

Highway 4 came with several independent recommendations - Our hotel, Lonely Planet and a personal recommendation from a couple who dined there the previous night.

The specialities (catfish rolls, beef wrapped coconut and pumpkin parcels) were anything but. Food wasn't cooked well at all. Beef was very dry (either pre-cooked or over cooked), parcels were very oily and catfish just did nothing for the tastebuds.

Restaurant was nice enough to look at but we left really disappointed, especially since it came with rock solid recommendations. I travel for a living and try different cuisines in different settings weekly, I'd like to think I've a fair understanding of what qualifies good value and what people expect.

The food here wont kill you, and I'm sure they don't wash the dishes in the street BUT, there is a lot healthier, tastier, nicer and better value food in Vietnam. The countless locals in greasy spoon street cafe next door would probably be a good testament to that.

On recommendation from Lonely Planet. The catfish rolls were tasty and reasonably priced for a "fancy" Vietnamese restaurant. The smoked buffalo appetizer was very tough jerky that required a lot of sauce and a lot of sucking/chewing to make it edible. The snail/tofu earthen pot curry dish was flavorful; the tofu was good but the snails were tough and overcooked. The satay grilled ostrich dish was tender and delish. The son tinh liquor touted as "port-like" was indeed tawny port-like.

Having just returned from dinner at the Bat Su branch, I felt compelled to write. The food was overpriced and quite honestly, the worst vietnamese food we have had since being here. The pork ribs took about 10 minutes to chew and digest one mouthful. The staff were useless and were too busy on their phones or phlegming on the floor. Completely inattentive-we had to ask for glasses, for plates for our spring rolls and there was just a general attitude about them all. This does not deserve its "top pick" status from the Lonely Planet. Furthermore, the toilets were absolutely disgusting!!
