You know how people like being in the middle of it all? Well if you want comfort luxury and style at a slight distance then this is really where you will get it. You enjoy the local life from your window and see Hanoi raise as you have breakfast in the lounge. Way to go!!

We loved our stay at the Intercontinental WestLake Hanoi. After spending a few days staying in the Old Quarters, the Intercontinental WestLake was a needed refresher from all the traffic and dust in the Old Quarters. The hotel surroundings were so peaceful that we felt like we were transported out of Hanoi. Beautiful view of West Lake and especially from the Sunset Bar. We stayed in the king bed overwater room and it was lovely. Very spacious room, with a great sized bathroom, comfortable linen, pillow menu, private balcony, good size bathtub for 2. It basically met all our "wants" for a hotel room.

We also ordered some room service, basically bun cha and spring rolls, and it came fast and more importantly, still hot and not cold. It also tasted good! Service at the front desk was good, and met my expectations of any 5star establishment. Overall, when we re-visit Hanoi again in the future, I would not stay at the hotels in the Old Quarters, but choose the Intercontinental WestLake instead.

We stayed in Intercontinental for 3 nights in Aug 2013. The hotel is real value for your money as this is an international hotel with good track record of service, yet not as expensive as Sofitel, Hilton or Sheraton. The intercontinental definitely was very well-maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful that despite being in a big hotel, we were really cared for and felt right at home. Our room was on the 3rd floor, on the pool side with city view. It does not have the breath-taking view ( not the fault of the hotel) as this is a big sprawling city in a developing country but still offers an intriguing take on the city life in an asian country. The room was really amazing - clean, spacious, modern and well- decorated (flat screen tv, ironing board and iron, hair dryer, etc.) It was a good place to come back to after a day's activities. The bed was really comfortable with the optimal amount of firmness and softness. That's saying something as I always have problems with hotel beds being too soft or too hard and getting a back pain in the morning. Breakfast at the hotel lounge was also a treat. Overlooking a pond, the lounge was relaxing and the food heavenly!!! Try to go in before 10 am so that you can get their mango smoothie which was absolutely divine. I have been to quite a number of southeast asian countries but vietnamese mango smoothies that the hotel staff whip up here, are the best and above all!! The view Another amazing thing about this hotel is that you can pay about 25 - 30 usd per day for club / lounge access. This was a real steal as they have really nice spread during lunch and dinner with unlimited alcohol, personalized service and great atmosphere. We saved a lot of money and trouble by using this facility as the restaurants near the hotel were either cheap vietnamese dishes that we didn't know what to order or how to order or very greasy/fried western food. I would highly recommend buying the lounge access if you are planning to spend some time at the hotel and cannot stand to try food stalls every day. We did go on 'Food on Foot Tour by Awesome Travel' to try out very good vietnamese food as the local guide on the tour knew where to take us as well as explain us about the city and the people as we walked along its little streets. To me, this way is much much better than safer than just going into a random vietnamese stall and try our luck. The pool is a little small for the number of rooms they have but it wasn't that crowded. The hotel grounds are so amazing to walk around and so classy just like everything else in the hotel. Really truly recommend this place if you're looking for a hotel in Hanoi for a relaxing, comfortable and pleasant stay.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room on the pool side as it has the city view and a better ambience to sit and r...

Just had 3 days at this great resort. Wonderful clean place and make sure to have easy time for breakky in the morning- starting with Pho! this is Vietnam must do. Looked after my wife being vegetarian very well.
Try Jackfruit and with special request Mango !!
This morning a nice girl from kitchen came out with tray of freshly baked croissant to our table- no five star in the world has ever done that in our experience, extra marks for that.
Keep up the great job. Free WiFi only in public areas so sit by the pool and enjoy.
Just got served complimentary fruit and refreshing towel by the pool!!
Loaction is a great oasis from general noisy and at time smoky city, very calm and relaxing ambiance.
Wake up in the morning with mist covered lake, very nice!!
Do not worry about distance, costs just 3-4$ by taxi and nice experience easy to get and straightforward dealing, nothing to worry at all.
Recommend it strongly.

Room Tip: For rooms, pay extra and get rooms with Panaromic View, that will ensure you are overlooking the wat...

Stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of my cousin and the photos which she showed me of her visit.

The hotel is situated on the river so and it is very picturesque. However, the rest of the hotel is "standard"-built modern and nothing to discern it from other modern hotels. What was a little bit inconvenient was that there were no shops at all in the hotel, not even a drugstore. When I enquired, staff told me that there had been a drugstore previously but that it was now closed.
Service in the hotel is generally good by Hanoi standards, from the helpful concierge to the reception.

The Vietnamese restaurant serves a very good and value for money dinner, but the Italian restaurant is more expensive and the tiramisu desert an utter failure-full of nothing but cream and little tiramisu taste.

The sunset bar is a must!It is really pretty and nice to relax over
a drink or two or three!!One tip, don't go too late as I did one night or it'll be too dark, do go earlier to see the sunset.

Another thing I had discovered: the spa does not charge extra for in room massages. In most hotels I have visited, there is an extra charge. The masseurs are very good and skilled and the price is reasonable.

We were recently in Hanoi for the beginning of our trip down the Mekong when we stayed several nights here. The rooms were lovely and a good size. The restaurant where we ate several times was very good. The carpet in the lobby could use a renewal but I would certainly recommend this hotel! In fact, I was glad we were staying here as we experienced the typhoon in early November as it came through Hanoi. Never heard a thing!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the Red River. There are also rooms that are built on the water. Wasn...

We stayed in pavillion #2 with a really beautiful view on the West lake. The room was large, very nice and very clean. It was a great place to stay. The staff was very helpfull. The breakfast had a big food variety.
I definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.
The only problem is the location of this hotel situated about 5 kms from the down-town. Unfortunatelly the hotel does not provide a shuttle and you have to be very carefull when you take a taxi. They might take you all around before dropping you to your destination just to charge you more...

Room Tip: There are three pavillions beside the main building. Pavillion # 3 then 2 are better than pavillion...
