“Good Value for Money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

Very nice building with clean rooms for what you are paying. Very nice staff service. Very good value for money and easy walking distance from most place on West Lake. Might want to pay more and upgrade for views or a bigger room as mine was a bit small. TV and zircon were good.

Room Tip: I just took the superior room they offered and it was a bit small. Might be good to pay extra for a...

If you are looking for a mid range hotel in Hanoi I recommend you consider the Wild Lotus.

Most people stay down town when visiting. Tay Ho is the expat district of Hanoi, nicely situated right on the lake, quieter than the Old Quarter but only a 10 minute cab ride away ($5USD). Tay Ho is well serviced with many choices of restaurants and bars. Don't pass up the option of the many street food stalls. The food is sensational, we have eaten there every day with zero problem.

We booked the cheapest budget room via Agoda, it was small & no window to the outside. What more do you expect? The upgrade to premium room with lake view, balcony (small), large main area, two queen beds & big bathroom was $12USD. Staying for a week in this luxury for that price was a bargain.

The staff are excellent, ensuring everything you want is catered for.

Previous reviews have commented on the air con, hot water & breakfast choice. We have experienced none of this. Granted the choice for breakfast is limited but if I wanted unlimited choice / western food I would stay down he road at the Sheraton. I( can have plenty of western food at home). You place your order the night before, it is on the table minutes after you sit down. My son now orders without hesitation the Pho Bo. An excellent way to start he day.

Enjoy the Wild Lotus. It's not the Hilton but neither is the price!!

Room Tip: It is worth he money for the larger lake view rooms

I stayed here for three nights. Location is great and very near to cafes restaurants and across the street from the lake. I had one of their big rooms on the 6th floor. The room is huge and well done. The bathroom is nice with large shower. There are huge windows looking down at the lake and a small balcony. The staff are nice, but had some issues.
First, there are no in room safes. They advertise that they have, but they only have a safe at reception. Although this is not a pricey place, rooms and prices like these demand in room safes. Secondly, I had issues with hot water at times. Third, the place has central air conditioning, but it doesn't work well. When I saw a standing fan in the room it made me think about that, but I was tired and didn't bother. The room is very large and it is sweltering outside, but this is no excuse. I had the thing goin full blast all night and it was still too warm to be under the covers. Not good! Lastly, the breakfast really needs major improvement. The meal is basically what you would get at a small cafe in Vietnam. Very basic choices that you must choose the night before so that they can go get the ingredients.
Basically, they need to improve AC, Water temps, install safes and have a decent breakfast and this place would be awesome. At this point though, I would be be unsure to recommend to friends. (I have lived in VN for 5 years and am familiar with all types of hotels)

We stayed here for 2 nights, the rooms were very clean and modern. Hotel is located in an upmarket area of Hanoi, away from the old quarter. There are mostly international restaurants in the area. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating but due to language barrier, their ability to assist with the general tourist needs was somewhat limited. This hotel is a good alternative for those people who wish to stay on the Ho Tay lake and you can be in the old quarter in 15 minutes. By the way, this hotel is right on the lake and so you can get some nice views from the rooms.

Good rooms and helpful staff
Room was large with agood level of comfort and a balcony. Staff are super helpful and food was excellent. As it is very central there was a noise factor but manageable. No Air Con but fan with cooling control did the job. Price is good and our survey for the hotel was at the top of the scale. We would stay there again

A modern, elegant hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views of West Lake in the front. Rainspout showers with wooden slatted floors. Very nice. Flat screen television with cable and free wifi. Close to many fine restaurants. This affluent residential area of Hanoi has more ex-pats and is less touristy. Cabs easily available -- a 10 minute ride to the Old Quarter, and a quicker trip to the airport from here. Nice beds. Rooms facing the street have balconies and double-paned windows.

The staff is quite friendly and helpful, a little limited in English sometimes. Good air conditioning. Mini bar. Very clean and polished.

Breakfast is included -- the Vietnamese coffee is outstanding. Try the rolled noodle with dried beef for breakfast -- I think it's called "special pancake".

Wild Lotus is a little known gem and a far better hotel than many better known ones in Hanoi. I'm including in that statement some of those that are highly-recommended on this site.

This is for the budget traveller and we paid $8 for a room for 2 people. Free wi fi in our room and free acess to internet in reception. Our rooms were cleaned spotlessly every day and nothing was too much trouble for the helpful staff. They are very honest and caring people and the central location in The Old Quarter is a bonus. Enjoy your time and stay with The Wild Lotus Hotel.
