We found the hotel to be a 20 minute walk to the old Quarter part of Hanoi but we did get up early and walk it the shaded boulevards were lovely we came across an early morning market not far from the hotel and enjoyed talking to the locals who were very friendly and showed us the best way to walk we also noticed the colonial architecture of hanoi was really lovely

The hotel was comfortable and the restaurant was on the top floor and breakfast was pretty Ho Hum

We only stayed here 2 nights before and after a halong bay cruise if I had to stay longer it would not be in this hotel

Room Tip: Choose a higher room away from the street noise

I'm currently still in Vietnam and this hotel was recomended by Wendy Wu Travel...however I would not suggest this as a great place to stay....It is a good 15 minute drive from the Old Quart and the best markets in Hanoi. I have booked a superior room, however my basic room on a Junk boat in Halong Bay superseeds this without a doubt.

After staying one night, it was ok...however my friend and I then had a night trip on a Junk Boat in Halong Bay (highly recomended) and upon our return they had checked us out of our superior room and placed us in the basic room which the toilet doesn't work... When I asked about it they pretend their is a language misunderstanding - yet they understood me fine when we were discussing other tours etc.

I have traveled asia numerous times and although I have stayed in worse hotels - it was expected as I was on a low budget. however Platinum was mid-high price range and my expectations were let down.

Everyone was extremely polite, helpfull and kind, the manager and all the other staff of the hotel, giving a very hospital note to the hotel. The hotel was cituated in the old quarters of Hanoi, being very convinient for us. Rooms were very clean and the service perfect. Breakfast was decent good. Also, the hotel manager made very good arrangments for daily tours arround Hanoi.
Generally, the hotel made an excellent value for its money and we would highly recoment it to someone who would like to spend a few days in Hanoi.

Only had the pleasure of a 1 night stay at the Platinum II hotel. I found it clean, comfortable and the desk staff to be exceptionally friendly. The elevator broke down (apparently it happens a fair bit), and we truely didn't think much of the breakfast- but other than this we couldn't find a fault.
Their currency exchange was the first one we found in Hanoi that didn't bother trying to initally rip us off. The bed was gigantic and the bathroom shower would make a comfortable second bedroom there is so much space.
Would definantly recommend to anyone looking for a room to crash one or two nights!

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, and we thought it was very nice. The room was clean, large and quiet, and the location was great; centrally located, but not in the too touristic area of the old town. The staff was extremely frindly and reliable, even though many of them did not speak good english. They helped us rent a nice car with reliable driver who took us to the horrible port town Halong Bay. We also stayed a night at Hanoi Hilton, and Platinum II was approximatly just as good, except for the lack swimming pool, but the prive was much lower. So I recommend this hotel to everyone travelling to the wonderful city of Hanoi!

Stayed on two occaisions during Wendy Wu tour. The rooms we had were modern, clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. On the first stay we had two 4 foot beds, the second time one bed 8 foot wide! ~The beds were very hard.
The shower was huge, very efficient, with a good selection of toiletries, very clean and modern.
There was efficient air-con, a minibar, and hairdrier, and 1 bottle of drinking water provided for each of us daily.
Breakfast was good, both Eastern and Western style food, all plentiful.
There is free internet in reception.
Staff were always pleasant and helpful, we had a Vietnamese guide, so no language problems.
Certainly couldn't fault this hotel, although it is probably a bit to far to walk to main places of interest.

The hotel was in a pretty good location, not too bad with cleanliness, they still have a lot to learn about customer service but this expected as many many places over there are still getting into the swing of what to do and how to treat tourists and it is hard for them as their are many nationalities visiting now over there. The restaurant upstairs is better than most of the restaurants we found with in walking distance/slow service, they had trouble with understanding our order even when we pointed to it. Beer and soft drink were always just a touch cold and after our husbands had two beers each they had run out and only had hot ones. Breakfast was not the best, some mornings you didn't know if you would get much as they not always refilled the hot box. Sometimes ayou would sit waiting for half an hour hoping something else would be refilled, same with the fruit and bread. We even tried different times. They just haven't got it altogether yet. But it is interesting, I have stayed at worse places and they are still all very friendly and try hard to get it happening, even though 80% of the time it is not what is desired but you go along with it and everyone is happy.
