“Nice Japanese fusion Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

I came last week with a friend for lunch. We chose the 240,000 VND set lunch with the 5 tapas, the main dish and a Vietnamese Coffee.
Everything was tasty except maybe for the "Very spicy Tofu" that was a little greacy.
The service is really excellent.

“Lovely rooftop dinner at Pepe la Poule”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2014

We had a lovely dinner on the rooftop last night. Perfect lake view, superb friendly service. This restaurant is on Dang Thai Mai 23/50... just a few meters away from Backyard Bia Hoi. The restaurant is lovely inside with a sushi bar type counter and tables inside as well as on the roof. The restaurant is not 'backpacker cheap', but the food is tasty, fresh, imaginative and well prepared. We had the spring rolls, ribs, deep fried chicken, french fries with blue cheese sauce and a few other things. A good value for the price!

I highly recommend reservations for dinner!!!

“Fusion tapas izakaya style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

This is a very ambitious new-kid-on-the-block restaurant, clearly catering to the Sedona and general Japanese clientele in Tay Ho. During our visit we saw plenty of Japanese business men arriving. The front part of the restaurant looks a lot like a sushi bar, including bar seating and there is a rooftop terrace with lake view on the 5th floor (good thing that there is an elevator).

The Japanese chef came up with a quirky fusion menu of modern Chinese and Italian pasta dishes and it works when one sees it in the izakaya (Japanese tapas basically to be enjoyed with friends and co-workers over copious amounts of beer) context. This is not and does not try to be fine dining.

All food we had was a tad above average, especially the ribs were succulent and very tender, but nothing was really overwhelming, no 'that hit the spot' moment.

Service is nice and in general attentive, one hiccup only when the waiter was about to refill my wife's beer with tea :D

I can imagine this is a great place for beer and nibbles with friends. Not sure if I would necessarily return with so many other options close by. One extra point for ambition and the roof top terrace.
