Booked direct with hotel and pick up at airport with no problems. Bit of confusion re the room as I thought we were getting a Lake view, but not to worry, the room was huge. Good beds, clean bathroom, Internet i Lobby.Balcony tiny as most balconies in VN but at least theres some air. Lovely staff, breakfast served in a small room on ground floor where tables are set up in the morning. Standard choice of b'fast. eggs, omelete, juice, Pho, bread, juice, tea/Coffee and fruits. No safe in room but there are safes at reception. Best thing about this place is the position.
Opposite lake which is wonderful of an early morning, all the joggers and people doing Tai Chi, exercises, dancing, aerobics etc. 2 Minutes to large roundabout, and streets of Old Quarter. Best massage I,ve had turn left when you get onto street about 50 metres up, on right before street turns, a sign ( 2feet on a wall) and down an alley then up stairs.
Walk around the block early morning food market and great little restaurants. A good find in Hanoi

There are so many wonderful things about the Heart Hotel. Extremely helpful and professional staff. The rooms are clean, centrally located, but occasionally noisy. The beds and pillows are firm, but this is a minor complaint. A major complaint is that the bath tub was not plumbed in or fixed, making bathing a trapeze balancing act.

When you book with Heart Hotel (hearthotelvn@gmail.com), request a pickup on your arrival at the airport. The $15US charge is added to your bill at the end - no fuss, great convenience. Breakfast, VAT, 5% service charge, bottled water - all included. The staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and to feel at home. The hotel is older in an exceptional location. Our suite overlooking the lake was very clean and well maintained. Exchange your US dollars for Vietnamese dong at the desk as it's the same exchange rate you'll get anywhere. For our first time in SE Asia, we were delighted with this B&B boutique hotel.

I stayed here while travelling alone and was made to feel right at home. I stayed in the top floor lakeview room. One always wonders if the view and description will be as good as the website says but I was not disappointed. Some of my best memories of Hanoi will be of lazing on the Vietnamese sized (small) balcony watching the people throng around the social and spiritual heart of Hanoi, Lake Hoan Kiem, below. The staff are most helpful but are not pushy. When I changed some money at the front desk their exchange rate was as good as you can get. The tours offered were nice and not the cattle car experiences I had in Saigon. I went on one to the Perfume Pagoda and Halong Bay. They were well priced and very well run on clean vans/buses with small groups of 8-15. Heart Hotel is located on a fantastic street which was a calm quiet scene just off the main street. Literally metres from the door you can eat any cuisine you like and it is safe and yummy. In the heart of the Old Quarter this hotel is an easy walk to most of the local sights and a very cheap taxi or cheaper motorbike taxi to all the rest. Hoan Kiem lake is 1 minute walk away and a morning walk around it from is a great way to start your day fom this location. Free wi-fi is in the rooms and a couple of online desktops in the reception are also provided, and they work!. Their airpot transfers are fairly priced and much cheaper than taxis. The room price was great and try the PHO for breakfast as well. You will need it to get through the day. I cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough. You will get a real feel for Hanoi if you stay here but without the hard sell one recieves elsewhere.

This is a fuss free hotel from the beginning. When I emailed them for a room, they replied quite promptly and offered taxi pick up from the hotel, and a taxi back to the airport. All they required was the flight details.

The lobby is bright and cheerful with beautiful paintings.

The staff are friendly and speak good English. They do require passports as collateral for staying there, and that you hand over the room key when you leave the hotel. However, they will return your passport when you ask for it with no questions asked.

Rooms are clean and turned down every day, my only complaint is the smell of the sewer that wafts up from the piping system at the end of a long day. This goes away after a shower. I would recommend some scented essential oils/candles if you're bothered by the smell. Wifi was available in our room.

We booked a day tour to Tamcoc with them which was a very pleasant experience, and the staff will readily give you directions to the places you wish to go to. We were also given tips such as how much the taxi fare should cost to a certain destination.

When we left the hotel for a 2D1N trip to Halong Bay, they let us keep the room, and I'm glad to report that our room was left untouched. They did ask for payment for the nights that we stayed at as a deposit, but I think it's fair to pay. I'm sure as hoteliers they're worried of people running off without paying.

I must stress that location is very good. It is very close to the lake without being too close to the main street, though the lane that the hotel faces can get noisy on Friday nights.

Lastly, the breakfast spread is a good mix of local and western food: baguettes with omelette, fried egg, jam and butter, beef or chicken pho, juices, tea and coffee.

Having stayed previously at the Old Quarters on another trip, I was looking forward to a hotel more centrally located (my previous hotel was a 10 minute walk to the lake itself), I decided that the potential noise of a more centrally located hotel was worth the trade off.

Heart Hotel is literally a turn, and 2 street crossings from the Hoan Kiem lake, making it absolutely well placed for exploration to both the Old and French Quarters and to access all the great food around it as well.

Our room was upgraded to a bigger one upon us arriving, and they also arranged for airport pickup, which made arrivals easier and less stressful for us. The room faced the street, and was just a floor off the street level, so there was a little bit of noise to deal with. We would have preferred a room a little higher up, but it wasn't reason enough to complain about the hotel. The bathroom is also very clean, with hot and cold water that worked, and complimentary toilettries. The only minor complaint is of the bathtub, which was rocking (it wasn't resting level on the ground), and some minor leaks. There's a slight smell from the sewers when you return to the room after a long day which goes away after a short shower.

They serve a breakfast with a choice of western or Vietnamese food in a small area on the ground floor, which coffee, tea and juice, which we found to be perfectly fine with us.

They also had tour options (we took a day trip package from them), and were very happy to give us directions to attractions and restaurants all over Hanoi, and were always very happy to help.

I found their staff to be a lot more helpful compared to the other hotel I stayed in previously, so this is highly recommended for both the staff, and the location. The only downside would be the noise (we're not too far from a few of the main roads and a cafe) plus the slightly dated toilet.
