“Fun filled stay”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Travelling through S.E Asia for 2 and a half months I stayed in a lot of hostels and this was definitely my favourite, it's suited to youngish people looking to meet people and have fun. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, I stayed in the girls dorm and met a tonne of people, some of which I travelled with for weeks after leaving, the staff are friendly, young and helpful and don't try to rip you off. It is perhaps slightly more expensive than other hostels but the money is definitely worth it. Lots of fun pub crawls began at this hostel, and the breakfast there is great. I reccommend this place to all my friends!

Room Tip: If you don't mind sharing with others the dorms are a great place to make friends and have their...

Hanoi Backpackers is really the place to go in Hanoi. I stayed in the old hostel at Ngo Huyen, but I would recommend the new one at Ma May as it has just a little more facilities. Dorms big and clean, good breakfast included. The best part is the atmosphere, I just met so many great people. I do think it is quite expensive at 9.5 dollars a night and, being a party hostel, it can be quite noisy. Breakfast starts at 6 whoch is great obviously but the music starts pumping at 6 as well..

Was the first hostel I stayed in while I was in Vietnam, and was definitely the best. Brilliantly equipped, friendly staff, clean rooms, comfy beds, has, free internet, a travel desk, a bar and a kitchen/restaurant, and only costs only 5 dollar PER NIGHT :) THE place to stay in in Hanoi.

P.S. If you go to Hue, there is a hostel like this there, and it's great too.

Room Tip: The dorms have bedside lights and a small safe box for storing your valuables.

I was personally not a fan of Hanoi (at all), but I would go back simply to stay at this hostel - it was that good.

We stayed in dorm style rooms, with shared washrooms and bunk beds. Each bunk had it's own locker for your belongings, which was awesome. This place clearly knows whay they're doing. They organized excursions, hosted parties, had events, they really did it all. We lovedddddd it here. The food is a tad expensive, but good, and their Vietnamese coffee was the best we'd had.

They organize quite a few tours. We participated in their Snake Village tour, and their Rock Hard Rock Long tour. Snake village.... maybe not necessary. Rock Hard - Necessary. Best two nights of my life, my god.

Got to know some of the staff working there, James, Anne, and Jonathan were awesome.

If you like meeting like minded travellers and are aged 17-25, then this the place to be. I swear every single student on a 'gap year' was staying at this hostel. That saying, if you don't like being around people like that, who are quite noisy, then don't stay here!!
The dorms are really nice and modern, and the communal shower facilities are clean and modern and very nice. Overall the place has a much more western modern feel than anywhere else we stayed in Vietnam which was a pleasant change in some ways, but does mean you miss out on some of the more local aspects. They include free buffet breakfast with the price of the room, which is nice, unlimited bread, jams, fruit and tea/coffee. One negative I would say is that the tours and the onward travel that they offer is overpriced and extremely touristy. We had heard bad reviews from other places and booked both of these elsewhere through VEGA Travel, which we can highly recommend. Other than that, a great, social place to be, and meet other people if you're travelling alone!

We stayed here twice - before and after visiting Halong Bay - and were very happy with the place. Downstairs there's a restaurant and 4 computers to use. Wifi fast and pretty reliable, though the signal didn't make it through to every bed!
Shower/toilet room for each dorm and custom-built bed areas with locking storage, power and light. We stayed here out of season, and some of the bed-area items weren't working/available but they were going around making a fix-list at this point.
Walking distance to the lake (5 mins) and to the south-bound train station (c. 15 mins).
Probably a bit pricey for Vietnam but comfortable and friendly, so you get what you pay for.

The dorms are surprisingly clean, got two showers and a toilet for 10 people, not too bad for a city backpackers. You get a large locker underneath the bunk beds where you can fit all your junk and safely lock it. With every bed comes a tiny locker next to the power point so you can lock your valuable phone and charge it at the same time. Beds are quite comfy and clean sheets.
Breakfast and use of computers is included. There is a bar up stairs but without atmosphere. The breakfast/lunch area is a nice place to have a chat with other travellers.
Tours are definitely overpriced so didn't go along with them.
