“Best place we stayed in Vietnam”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2012

We originally booked to stay in the older guesthouse but were upgraded to their new hotel on Ma May street. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left all of the staff were great, really friendly and helpful and went out of their way to be of assistance. it's in a great location, good standard, clean and spacious rooms, comfy beds and good breakfast. Excellent value for money and five star service. Definitely the friendliest and most enjoyable place we stayed in Vietnam - for the price, not sure you could find better!!!

It's a great little hotel - and it's right where you want to be. They direct you to a great restaurant just across the street when you arrive, and there is good street food all around - the hustle and bustle of back packer life is all around you. The staff are friendly and courteous, and everything was in order when we arrived. There are free computers in the lobby, and also free (but slightly intermittent) wi-fi. They have just moved to new premises so, as I write in January 2012, the pictures on here are of their old place. The new one is bigger and grander.
The rooms are good - best beds and pillows I slept on in Vietnam. And very clean. There's also a lift. The breakfast is basic but fine. There's a bit of building work going on nearby but it's no b other really.
They were helpful when it came to organising the obligatory trip to Halong Bay - and they took us back for one single night after we returned - even though they were full with longer bookings and it was awkward for them. Thanks Mrs Hang.

This guesthouse is located in an ideal place to explore the local life in Hanoi. We stayed there 4 nights. During our visit, renovation was in progress in next door. In order not to let us disturbing by the noise of construction, we were arranged to stay at another nearby hotel. How sweet they were, very consideration for their guest. Wifi and computers are available at the guesthouse. Free breakfast was simple but nice and delicious, especially the rice noodle soup (Pho).

We booked our tours to Halong Bay, Sapa and Tam Coc with them. Prices were not the lowest but reasonable, as we did not want to spend time to look around and waste time for shopping.
All staffs are really very friendly and helpful. Our luggage was safely kept during visit to Halong Bay and Sapa. They even helped us to buy the tickets for water puppet show and recommend shop or stall for eating and buying nice coffee powder.

Overall, this is really very nice guesthouse. You won’t regret staying at there.

Great value for money! We needed two rooms for our family of four adults, but everything was booked for two nights before the new year. Hanoi Guest house put us up in their family room (a triple room with an extra bed) for $50 a night, breakfast included. Where as we would've liked a larger room with more facilities, but given that we had no choice it was a great solution for its price. The staff was very friendly and helpful and did all they could to make us comfortable.

We travelled the classic route of Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and Sa Pa. The Hanoi Guesthouse folk arranged the travel, tansfers and meals to all destinations. We really were able to consider the Hanoi Guesthouse a second home as we flitted in and out on our mini adventures to Ha Long Bay and Sa Pa.

Apart from the clean rooms, good breakfast, free wi fi and very convenient location one event made it more special... We returned from our overnight trip from Sa Pa and after getting off the train at about 4:30 am in the morning were greeted by one of the staff from the Hanoi Guesthouse who arranged transport back to the hotel for us and after we got back to the hotel he took the time to play the kicking shuttlecock game that all young people seem to play with our ten year old son.

The sight of them playing this "Hanoi Hackeysack" on the street in front of the hotel in the pre-dawn quiet time was a highlight for me and one my son cherishes. So there are are a thousand choices in Hanoi of where to stay, but it was the warmth of the staff that added that special bit extra to what is already a great destination.

This guesthouse was superb, great location, comfortable rooms and breakfast thrown in. The staff were very friendly and able to help us book our trip to Cat Ba island and our train tickets onward to Danang. Great stay in the city.
