Firstly make sure you book with , http://www.hanoistreetfoodtour.com. There are a few places around who try and fake they are them. There address is on the website, simply turn up and book your tickets. They have tours at 11am, 5pm and 6:30pm.

Money (the English nickname for our guide) was amazing. She spoke great English. Explained all the dishes extremely well. When it started raining she went and bought us all waterproof tops to throw over so we stayed dry between stops. Answered any questions that were asked. There was 8 of us in total. A great group size.

At the end of the tour she gave us all the names and descriptions of the dishes so we can easily order them again. She even gave us a bunch of other recommendations for resteraunts and dishes so those staying in Hanoi for awhile can go check them out.

There was so much food. We went on the 5pm tour and finished at 8pm. I would suggest not eating anything much at all before, we had a brunch at 11am and still struggled there is just so much good food. Well worth the money (20usd per person) paid in Dong.

Do it, you won't regret it!!!

My brother and I did this street food tour recently, and loved it. Our host was Ms. Moon, who was a great guide, with a lot of knowledge about the food and the area. It lasted about three hours, and by the end we were stuffed but happy. If you're interested in venturing beyond the tourist-oriented restaurants but don't know where to go, this will give you plenty of ideas.

An incredible way to start off a trip in Hanoi. It was stinking hot and Miss Moon was so friendly and helpful and knowledgable that it was still great. Food was incredible and safe. Would recommend to anyone visiting Hanoi!

This was one of the top tours according to TripAdvisor. We went to the office and it was a bit chaotic with lots of people trying to sign up for various tours. Didn't feel very welcomed at all. We were a group of 12 people from all over the world and we set off to visit 7 different places for food. We started with Bun Cha at a small local restaurant that also served other dishes. We only had Bun Cha there and although it seems that the restaurant was famous for other dishes, no other dishes were explained or mentioned. We then left and went to a street stall with green papaya salad followed with rice crepes, lemon tea, fried spring rolls, jackfruit and yoghurt and finally egg coffee. The food at each place was nice but lacked detailed explanation. There were also lots of other street food along the way that would have been great if it had been explained to us...drinks with all sorts, fried dough balls, potato spirals...it felt as it the tour as getting us from one place to another, feed us and that was it. There was not interest in explaining in detail. All in all, found it lacking and saw some other tours where the guides were more forthcoming with information. In fact one other tour had the opportunity to try their hand at making the rice flour crepes when we were just ushered into the restaurant without even the opportunity to observe the crepes being made. We had to walk through the night market and the tour guide didn't even make sure that the group was complete as part of the group fell behind and was left wondering. All in all, didn't think it was worth the money...maybe it was the guide but thought that it could have been much better. Does it deserve the top spot...I didn't think so.

We did the 5pm tour just hours after landing in Vietnam and it was a fabulous wAy to get accustomed with the foods on offer and learn how to navigate the busy streets. Everything we tried was delicious and our tour guide, Money, was kind, helpful and good fun. We can't wait to head back to some of the visited cafes. Value for money.
