“Amazing Treat!”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

The food is so good that we went back five days in a row! The staff is friendly and the quality of food is unprecedented! I tried at least five different items from the menu and sometime ordered it twice in the same sitting! The portions are amazing, but because it was so good I wanted more! We have traveled to Sa Pa, but will be retuning to Hanoi, so that we can eat hear again before heading south! I can't say enough about this place and can't wait to get back there!

“Great food, at reasonable prices”
Reviewed March 16, 2014 via mobile

No frills Restaurant, tucked away in a small side street off the beaten track. Great food. Everything was hot and fresh. Meal for four including starters, main course drinks (half a dozen beers and couple of cokes) and deserts for a little over £20

“Smoking allowed :(”
Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

The one bad thing other reviews don't mention is that they allow smoking inside the restaurant so if you're not smokers take a quick look around to see if there is anyone smoking because it can affect the experience. Other than that, mostly full of westerners and backpackers, not locals. Depends what experience you are after. Food was delicious and service was great!

Dear Guest,

we appreciate your feedback regarding the smoking.

First, regarding Vietnamese (“local”) guests: We have them, including a number of regulars. The main reason that we have not many is that we have too few parking slots for their motorbikes in front of our restaurant. Also, most of our Vietnamese guests come at lunch time, while in the evening it is nearly exclusively foreigners (tourists and expats).

Regarding the smoking: In general, unlike in many parts of Europe and Northern America, smoking is not forbidden in restaurants in Vietnam. All restaurants in our street permit smoking. Vietnamese and many other Asians expect that they are allowed to smoke. Since we have customers from many countries we had kind of a flexible smoking policy:
Smoking was ok in summer, with all the fans running, so that one could barely notice any smoke. It is ok now as long as there are only very few guests in the restaurant, and they sit sufficiently far from each other. As soon as we have kids here, and/or the restaurant gets full, I usually ask customers to refrain from smoking, except on the two tables next to the door. Most of them understand. When possible, some move to the first table so that they can smoke. Unfortunately, maybe I didn’t see all smokers, especially when it gets busy.

Based on your feedback I will instruct our waiters to be more vigilant and we will allow smoking only on the tables next to the big open door.

We are sorry that a few smoking guests affected your experience that much that you gave us only a three star rating, although you found that our “food was delicious and service was great”. We hope that we can welcome you again.

“Great food at very reasonable price”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Our family of three have been here three times for meals. The service is friendly and efficient. The prices are amazing and the food delicious, a mixture of Vietnamese and German. A wide menu to choose from. I had the spring rolls followed by the currywurst, delicious. We initially visited because of Minh Thuy's top seven spot on Masterchef, but the food speaks for itself.well done.
