“Very Comfortable”

A very nice hotel which, although it is a few kilometres outside Hoi An, effectively has it's own private beach. Although it is a big hotel the service is very good and the staff helpful and attentive. Be careful of what you book though. Our "beachfront" villa strained the limits of description as, while it had an unimpeded view of the sea, it was actually about 4 villas back from the sea. This wasn't a problem although we were expecting a beachfront villa to allow you to walk straight onto the beach. The same goes for their transfers to town; there are only 4 per day which is poor.

On the other side the "beachfront" villa was lovely and well set up. It also has a lovely outside shower and has a lovely design and layout. One can walk to the villa or jump on the varies golf carts that are zooming around. Staff fell over themselves to be helpful and it was an excellent level of staff service across the board. The TV has numerous channels as well as loaded movies (abit like the digital movie selection one sees in modern long-haul aircraft). If you are into watersports the option are more limited (although this didn't really affect us as the sea was rough when we were there) although the concierge was very happy to help organise activities elsewhere.

All in all a lovely place and well worth it if you are looking for a place to relax.

We booked with Khiri Travel who I would highly recommend.

What a place - we had a personal pool villa, gorgeous, restful. Great facilities, incredible food. A bonus: the hotel has an on-site tailor who made two dresses for my wife with same day service using fabric we had brought with us from the U.S. - much easier than the hectic shops in Hoi An.
We booked though an agent based in Hanoi, Buffalo Tours, who got favorable pricing (3 for 2 nights) so we felt the value was excellent.

Room Tip: Pool Villa the ultimate in private luxury.

I only stay in this hotel for a few hours to rest after return to Hanoi on a overnight train from Sapa and before heading out to Halong Bay.

The room are decorated in antique and at first look was impressive.
But after staying in the room for a while i realize that the bath room stinks and the smell was getting into the room.

After a few hours sleep I went to the eating area to try and get some breakfast as promised.
However, there was no food ready at 720am. i made a check with a male staff and was informed we can order the food. I asked for a menu or a list so that we could make a selection. The male staff just walked around talking to a guy from the kitchen showing no interest. Not offering to seat us or anything.

After awhile he returned and say we could have bread, noodles or something. But without anything to look at, how would i know what was on offer??? I could say whatever i want and they will cook it, i would think not.

I gave up and went back to the room. This caused me to go without breakfast for that day as the bus was picking us up around 8am.

In short, nice deco, stinky room, poor service.

First off, for 17 bucks a night I shouldn't complain. Very clean rooms with beautiful wood furniture, floors, wall, ceiling. Staff were friendly and helpful with all my questions and needs. Great breakfast with typical western fare. TV was an old CRT unit, not the big LED as advertised, but who comes to Vn to watch TV right? Fridge and heater suddenly stopped working so they moved me downstairs one floor where my city view became a nice view of some lady's kitchen. I shopped around for tours and such, the guy at the tour desk here definitely has better deals and is not so pushy with guests like at other hotels I keep reading about. Good location, 5 minute walk to Hoen Kiem lake. They were pretty cool about unlocking the doors and helping me to my room after a pretty intense new years celebration. Recommended, will stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel over christmas 2012. Got a double room for $15 on Agoda which is amazing value given the quality of the rooms, service and breakfast buffet. Perfect location, quiet and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Book on Agoda

Great hotel & location. Walking distance from Hoan Kim Lake, Old Quarter etc. Rooms were spacious & clean, comfy beds, funky antique wooden furniture & lighting that gave the place a bit of character. Free wifi but connection not so good. Friendly & helpful staff who were also able to book us on an amzing 3 day boat cruze in Ha Long Bay. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to stay in Hanoi for a few days.

The Nam Hai hotel at 55 Duong Thanh Street in the old part of Hanoi is a luxurious refuge from the traffic and hustle and bustle of a city that rarely seems to go to bed, let alone sleep. It has air-conditioning and fans to counter the heat and humidity of the warm weather, a luxurious massage shower to wrinkle away the aches and pains of trying to cross roads, haggle and find places to eat and a comfy large bed to dream of doing it all again tomorrow. An interesting and tasty Asian breakfast can be substituted for the usual Western fare and the staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front have a balcony.
