“Unusual”

Our visit was part of a tour of the city. I was not looking forward to a puppet show. However I was delighted with the show. It was a little bit repetitive but there was still plenty of variety and the live performers good. The revalation of how it was done at the end was a real surprise.

“Everybody goes, you should too..”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Saw more tourists here that anywhere else in Hanoi. A good performance, includes singing, puppetry is quite unique and cleverly done, whilst telling a good story, get tickets early (day before) to avoid missing out. Seemed to go on a long time but maybe I was just tired on the day..

The water puppet show is worth a visit to see some authentic Vietnamese entertainment, just don't expect to understand what is going on!

“Didn't meet expectations”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

There was a lot of hype concerning this attraction in Hanoi. Tickets are sold out well in advance. There are 6 shows a day and two ticket prices, 100,000 and 60,000VND. You can also purchase an extra cheap ticket to take pictures. But I would advise against it, they don't check when you're taking a photo. The show tells of Vietnamese culture in the form of scenes depicted using puppets in water. Hence the name of the theater. However after several of these scenes, the performance becomes rather repetitive. It is roughly 45 minutes long and is a good opportunity to escape the weather outside. Worth a visit if not just for the novelty factor.
