“Huge Lake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

This huge lake seemed wonderful! We watched the fishermen & the many food sellers & looked at the Tran Quoc Pagoda from the outside as we could not go in. Surrounded by condominiums, restaurants, hotels & pagodas. I like eating in this restaurant - banh tom - where they serve this fried bun with shrimp & lau ( hot pot)

“What you can expect from a city lake”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

I saw some old photos when the lakeside was grass rather than concrete. Much more beautiful back then. Now it is a lake in the middle of the city, crowded and surrounded by concrete.

“Beautiful city lake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

After the heat & hectic traffic, this huge lake seemed wonderful! We watched the fishermen & the many food sellers & looked at the Tran Quoc Pagoda from the outside as we could not go in. on the other side of the causeway is another lake, White Silk Lake (Truc Bach) which has swan-necked pleasure boats. We had a memorable meal in a lakeside restaurant which is famous for its shrimp pancakes & sea food.

“Nice to see in the midst of a noisy, busy city”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

This is not the most beautiful lake you'll see but if you're in Hanoi with the thousands of noisy motor scooters, it's nice to see trees and water. There's a small island in the middle with a couple of temples so worth a walk over a small bridge.

“The West Lake - Is it for Everyone”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

1. Be very clear – this is a place to wind down, relax, take it easy, stroll, stare at the placid waters of the lake, and watch the patient fishermen that line the sloping banks with their long fishing rods.

2. If you want to experience a part of Hanoi that's almost (but not quite) devoid of the ubiquitous two-wheeler, and doesn't blast you with the onrushing, incessant traffic, spending a day in the West Lake area will be most rewarding.

3. I wish they’d convert the dull grey embankment of the lake into a lush green paradise. And if they plant flowering trees, imagine the riot of beauty in season!
