Excellent museum, several short documentaries to see, all exhibits had Vietnamese, French and English information panels - informative, but not lengthy.
Definitely worth a visit. Very easy to get to from Old Quarter

What could impress a visitor most is that despite being a patriarchal society, there is still a Vietnam Women’s Museum in the country.

Located in Hanoi, the capital city of the country, it exhibits over 25,000 documents and artifacts for the visitors.

Spread over an area of 2000 square meters the museum is a virtual storehouse of information about the history and contemporary culture of Vietnamese women. Documents and artifacts displayed indicate the contribution of women to the history and development of the country.

Highlight of the museum are the regular display systems that include historical, social, religious, and fashions of Vietnamese women. The museum also conducts various exhibitions and programs from time to time.

The museum is a decent size over several floors with each floor dealing with a different aspect of life. The displays are well laid out and enough space around most of them for several people to view them at the same time. The captions for each display are short enough to read without getting bored but include a decent amount of detail. Captions are in Vietnamese, English and French.

The museum is well worth a visit to learn more about birth, marriage, family organisation and the role Vietnamese have played in various conflicts in the country.

One thing I would recommend before going is to learn the basics of the various conflicts in Vietnam as some of the captions talk about the enemy etc. but don't mention which country is the enemy. Simply knowing who was involved in each conflict, who was considered the enemy and rough dates will help the conflict floor make more sense.

Out of the museums I visitied in Hanoi I think this was probably the best.
