I am not a museum person but this one is worth a visit. You will see many interesting artifacts of the various tribes in the main building. There are also separate tribal buildings outside which are great for photography.

There are interesting video documentaries at some locations. Food and drinks are available outside main building.

Warnings:
1. Don't go when your legs are dying for foot reflexology.
2. You will perspire a lot if you go during hot weather as there is lack of a/c inside the main building.
3. You will be disappointed if you expect detailed explanation of every artifact.

If you love seeing tribal houses, clothes, tools and traditions, you will love this place! They have some very clever innovations. Enjoy!

It was hard to take in all the information from the indoor exhibits. The outdoor exhibits, where the traditional dwellings of the different ethnic groups within Vietnam was much more interesting. The gift shop at this museum just as you go out the gate has some lovely things that make great souvenirs or gifts.

Sapa has 54 ethnic minorities, but to get there requires 2 overnight train rides. This museum has a lot of the styles of houses the different minorities live in and offers good glimpse of their life. This is a great introduction to Sapa, or a good substitute if you cannot go up there. It also has a good restaurant where young people are taught the restaurant business in very professional ways. I would recommend the museum and lunch there.
