One of the best things about Vietnam is how they try to preserve their heritage and culture. The Museum of Ethnology is rated as one of the best museums in the world so you should go and see. There, you will experience a glimpse of historical Vietnam, from the time of their ancestors and how they lived their lives. Great learning experience!

Excellent museum - make sure you have at least half a day to enjoy all it has to offer! Well laid out and presented with many hand on sections. An excellent outdoor exhibit.

The stuff they showed indoors can be expanded on. Visiting the different types of homes was much more enlightening

Went there with our Hanoikids guide. There are well detailed English signboards. Thus, without a guide, you can also explore on your own. But of course, with a guide, you can know much more about the culture of the different ethnic groups.

There are a lot of information in the museum, be it indoor or outdoor exhibits.

I love how they have outdoor real houses for tourists to take a look so as to better understand what we saw in the indoor exhibits. Really interesting!

You can spend up to about 2hrs there or even more if you are extremely interested in the exhibits :)

It is quite out of the way from Old quarter but really worth a visit if you want to gain an introduction and understanding of Vietnam's ethnic groups!

Spent roughly 3 hours at this museum. The indoor exhibits were rather boring but the outdoor exhibits cannot be missed. No doubt one of the best museums around in South East Asia. The cafe outside the museum also serves pretty good and very cheap western and vietnamese food.
