“Very informative”

If you like museums, don't miss out on this one. Lots of information on different tribes in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Loved all the artifacts and video clips of actual tribal people. The first floor is cool, but the second floor was hot so dress cool and take a bottle of water.

As for transportation, my husband and I paid 150,000 vnd ($7.50) for one way from Old Quarter on two motorbikes.

“Lots of information”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012

There was lots of very interesting information on the ethnic minorities as well as the majority Kinh people of Vietnam. They also have a free water puppet show on the lake within the museum grounds and a nice cafe that doubles up as a working/training centre for young vietnamese.

The only improvement would be to have air conditioning installed around the museum as it can get rather hot and stuffy even with the fans going.

“Interesting museum”

You need to do it with a guide to really understand the importance of ethnology in Vietnam. We really enjoyed our visit to the museum, the outdoor section was really good for the kids as well. The cafe was great as well!

“Ethnic museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012

It was ok, nothing amazing which is a shame because the range of ethnicities is so huge. The real huts outside were great, but again I like more interactive stuff.

“With kids, a must to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012

In Ha Noi, there aren't many places to visit with young kids. Parks and zoos are not satisfying in sense of hygine and safety. Museum itself is very interesting and I get to know more about various ethnic groups in Vietnam. Rather, I preper the outside of the building. There is a huge garden and many exhibitions are there. Kids can run around and experience the exhibitions themselves. The best part of this museum is we can enjoy waterpuppet show outside on free every Sunday. Need to check the schedule from the web before visit. Quite interesting place.
