This museum is worth the cab ride! We were blown away by the outdoor area, where visitors can experience the different living conditions of Vietnam's various ethnic groups. It was an amazing hands-on experience, and we also got to take in a show at their outdoor water puppet pavilion. Inside the musueum was also enjoyable, especially the exhibit showcasing recycling workers. Don't miss the outdoor cafe on your way in (I can't recall the name), but it employs disadvantaged youths so they can attain job experience and practice their English. The service was great, and the baked goods to die for.

There are many museums to visit in Hanoi, but this one is better if it's not raining. The best part of the exhibition is the outside constructions showing different houses etc from different ethnological groups in Vietnam. It's also very good for kids, since you can visit the houses and see what they look like on the inside.
The exhibition indoors is ok. There are so many minorities in Vietnam so it's difficult to show them all in this museum, but you can get a nice picture of them (if you have enough energy left after spending a lot of time on the outdoors exhibition).
If you're hungry there's a nice café/restaurant. The young persons working here come from "troublesome" backgrounds and working here is a part of their education in the restaurant business. The food is good and the terrace is nice.
