We were randomly walking around the neighborhood and stopped by this little restaurant on a side street in the old quarter. Nice fusion of French design with Vietnamese charm. We had 4 dishes with a beer for under US$30 with tip. Speak slowly as wait staff's English isn't the best but highly recommended.

Excellent food. The presentations of the Food was really nice. The appetizer platter was the best choice of the night but all the food was good. The staff was attentive. The atmosphere was really nice. The prices were more expensive than the more local restaurants but still quite reasonable for the ambience. Definitely recommend for traveling expats and tourist.

We were pleasantly surprised to find an old church facade next to the restaurant which gave it even more character. The ambience of the restaurant itself was very European and tastefully done. The choice of white wine suggested - a Chilean - was excellent. Each of the dishes that we ordered had a unique and lovely flavor to it. We loved the satay mix and the salad. The dessert with green tea flavor was divine.

I am fan of DC restaurants including Virticale, and DC Bistro. This is the reasonably priced Vietnamese food restaurant with good maintained wines. Other places, it is very difficult to find good wines in good condition. They also serve local wines as well although I never tried.
Of course foods are very nice and atmosphere is just like the traditional Vietnamese house.
Another good thing is there is English explanation on the menu so that you won't get lost with local language about the foods.
So order anything you want to try without any loss or mistake.
Enjoy having nice local foods and wines (local and western).

Was looking on trip advisor for good place for our last supper in hanoi ( near our hotel) and found Porte d,Annam. It was really lovely! We had middle price set menu between the two of us and it was plenty of flavour and enough food. The building is beautiful, the kitchen looks clean and new, decor simple and pleasing. Staircase quite normal for Asia!
