“Best Little Diamond In Town”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

I had the great fortune of being recommended this hotel by another hotel manager. I liked it so much I ended up staying 4 months. The rooms are nice and charmingly furnished. The staff is very kind, fun, and helpful. The complimentary breakfast is overall delicious. There's also a fantastic fresh juice/smoothie bar inside the hotel. The hotel's location is great: In the French Quarter, but not in the noisy heart of it. About 10-15 minutes walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and the main bus transit there (but really, what visitors take buses?). For all the service and quality, the price cannot be beat. I stayed at 4 hotels and this was the diamond of the bunch. A really family atmosphere with the staff and you meet some interesting travelers, too. The dorms looked nice (for dorms) and a friend of mine stayed for months in one, but I was in a single room and it was quite quiet with respectful neighbors. The usual accoutrements of internet stations, WiFi throughout, onsite laundry, delicious menu, beverages fridge, excellent, varied, and honest travel services, the works. Like I said, I stayed 4 months. As cheap as a good apartment, but far more convenient and friendly. I was sad to leave.

Room Tip: Have a look at what rooms are available. There is a variety. Higher floors and back-of-hotel rooms...

Great location and friendly staff. The breakfast is complimentary as well. They helped out with transport and had a safe location for our bags while we travelled to sapa and halong. If you are planning on getting a sim card ask at the front desk and they will walk you to a vendor and negotiate for you. We were unorganized in sapa and managed to call the little diamond and have them organize to let us into the hotel at 5am so very good service.

This place is nice enough, the guy at reception is really friendly and helpful, but the dorm is on the 6th floor and there is no elevator. You share the room with about 8 others, and the beds are really close. I found it hard to sleep here. You get a locker that fits a day-pack. The breakfast is excellent though, you can ask for elaborate omelettes and all. Location is fine.

I've been in Hanoi close to 5 or 6 times by now. I've seen all kinds of hotels, upper and lower class, with all kinds of staff and services, and cleanliness.
This small hotel is perfect. It's clean, comfortable, and really cheap. The rooms are spacious enough (I tried both the dorm and private), shower is strong and hot, it includes breakfast, and the location is just the best (try the most famous chicken pho just few meters on your left when you go out, "Gia Truyen", 49 bat dan street).
I had also the best time with the staff, all very funny and friendly. Mr. Than (who works at the front desk almost all the time) is hilarious. Just ask him anything, and he'll find a way to help you.
They can also help you fix your travels and tours. No scams or tricks. You just get what you ask for.
As I'm meant to come back to Hanoi a few more times, for sure this is my top choice.

I stayed at Little Hanoi Diamond for 3 nights. We had a room on the top floor (room 606) and it was very nice with lots of space, nice views of the city, comfortable beds, good A/C, and a hot powerful shower. We had a WiFi router in the room so the internet was very good. We also had a fridge with freezer, large dresser, great lighting, and nice furniture. The room is possibly the nicest that I have stayed in while in Vietnam so far. My only complaint is that the hotel doesn't have an elevator and it was a bit of a hike to our room which is on the 6th floor, but since the 1st floor is actually two floors up from reception, it was like being on the 8th floor. I'm in good shape, but I was always a bit tired of stairs by the time I got to the room.

The hotel's location is decent, being on the west side of the old quarter and nearby Hoan Kiem Lake. There are a number of restaurants on the same block, as well as a couple tiny convenience stores.

The staff were friendly and responsive. They definitely wanted us to book a tour through them, but were not pushy about it. Many of the hotels in Vietnam make extra income through tours so I usually expect it to come up.

The free breakfast is rather average. They had baguettes, fresh fruit, and a guy cooking omelets. There was also usually a soup and some stir fried veggies of some kind. I usually had breakfast elsewhere since I wasn't really into the offerings they had.

Overall this hotel was great. I feel it is a good option for anyone wanting to stay a nice budget hotel in the old quarter.

This is indeed a hotel and not a hostel. I stayed for one night after being moved here from the sister hostel (Little Hanoi Hostel) and the rooms were more spacious and the beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable as before. We got a room overlooking the street and it was loud again. Ask for a room away from the street. There was coffee, tea and fruit in the lobby as well as computers for use. This place did not seem to have any common areas for travelers to meet. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the airport transfer was reliable.

Room Tip: request a room away from the street to get away from the constant honking.

This hotel offers hostel dorms for about $6 a night... and staying here was probably the best decision I made while in Vietnam. It's right by the Old Quarter in Hanoi and easy to walk to and from everywhere. The rooms are really nice and clean with full A/C all the time, and the bathrooms have proper toilets and hot showers. There is free coffee, tea, and fresh fruit in the lobby 24/7. But the best part is the free breakfast- free banh mi, toast, noodles, tomatoes, fruit, crepes, pho, omelettes, eggs... I can't believe it's free! And you get all this for $6!? The reception also has plenty of tours and they offer them at very reasonable prices... the Halong Bay day tour was less than $30. They keep a tab for you too while you're staying with them so you don't have to pay for anything until the end. So convenient! Great place to stay. GREAT value! I highly recommend this place!

Room Tip: Dorms or private rooms are great.
