“Delicious lunch walking back to Old Town from the HCM complex”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

After a morning visiting the HCM Mausoleum and Presidential Palace, we decided to stroll back to Old Town and stop here for lunch along the way. It was a bit tricky to find via our guidebook, but worth the search. The food was fabulous and an incredible deal. Apparently the family is from Hue originally and showcases some of the specialties from there.

Some of our dishes included very sticky and chewy shrimp dumplings, fried spring rolls, and tasty and fresh grilled pork with noodles. The family was making beef wrapped lemongrass skewers in the kitchen as we walked out, and I wished we would have given those a try too.

An incredible value, under $10 including 2 pepsis, and both my husband and I left well satiated.

This would be worth the trip even if it's not on your walking route. Probably our tastiest restaurant meal in Hanoi.

“Not easy to find, but worth the search”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

The Lonely Planet directions weren't helpful - the place is in an alley off Hang Bong Street. You go through a little shop and head upstairs to join lots of locals for some delicious food at very reasonable prices. We had Ban Bo (beef Hue noodles with some parts of beef that we wouldn't ordinarily eat) and Nem Liu (grilled meat wrapped around lemongrass and served with vermicelli noodles and other condiments). Great interactions with the locals at the table who showed us how to tackle our meal. Wonderful favors and definitely worth the search.

“Quick meal for us. Same price with Vietnames”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

There is the same menu for the local or tourists. The price is attractive.

Of course, its not put first priority restaurant for us in Hoi An but we do like to try for local food after a few days stayed in Hoi An

We ordered a chicken/beef soup sitting on the street was VND30,000 but this shop for the soup we ordered with everything only VND50,000 and tasty

The shop near Silk Path Hotel but it was not easy to find that on the alley. You can see a small shop but it has third floor on the restaurant.

“Very authentic, delicious and cheap Hue style food in Hanoi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

I love this place from the first visit at 36C Mai Hac De Street
It has all the major Hue food, keeps its original taste, nice decor and surprisingly cheap.
Try the following foods:
1. BUN BO HUE (Hue style beef - pig feet rice noodle)
2. BANH BEO TOM BAM (meaty shrimp cake)
3. BANH RAM DAU XANH (meaty sticky rice cake with green bean)
4. CHE (sweet soup for desert, choose any from the menu)
Cheers,
Tuan

“Very nice Hue cusine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

I was brought to this restaurant by my friend whom he was linking up with some other friends who were based in Hanoi.

The food here is really really good. I've had quite a bit of Hue food around Vietnam, but not in Hue itself. However the restaurant was packed which from where I'm from, if the place is packed. It prolly means the food is pretty darn good.
