“First visit to Hanoi”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

Didn't really know what to expect, as my friends booked this place. Staff very courteous, spoke English well. Room quite large, clean, no complaints! Good location, lots of interesting things around, easy walk to just about anywhere downtown. And the breakfast was amazing! I booked it again for a return visit after seeing the Halong bay.

Slightly aged but immaculately clean. Location is ok. Staff were excellent and very accommodating. Next time I would go for somewhere closer to the heart of Hanoi, perhaps near the lake but that's because my visit was short. Breakfast was varied.

The staff at this hotel came to my rescue when I lost my iPad. I needed to get a police report to make an insurance claim. Anh escorted us to the police station and translated for us. She then phoned our tour rep who expedited the police report.
The staff here were truly helpful, sympathetic and caring - making a bad experience better.\
Even without this experience, I would have given the hotel the best rating. It was very clean, no traffic noise, convenient location, great wifi, perfect air-con, great breakfast (with some odd extra choices like spaghetti Bolognese one morning and chicken curry another) and friendly, warm service.

Not bad for Vietnam standards, but needs better maintenance. The bathroom wasn't too clean and the towels looked a 100 years old. Grey and all torn up (the next day we got much nicer). Good location, close to the old part of town. The staff is helpul and nice, although speak little Enlish.

The staff at the Skylark were excellent! They were friendly and understood whatever you needed to know. So, anything you needed, wanted to organise or find out, they helped you immediately and sorted every detail in a swift, calm and friendly way. Their English was outstanding and they would make any call to price transport, travel times, book for you - and everything was done easily, they were prepared and could accommodate any change. Even when there were plenty of people at reception, all was sorted smoothly and you never waited.
I travelled all over Vietnam during January, staying at similarly ranked hotels, and I found this hotel to be by far the easiest, calmest and friendliest to stay at. It's a beautiful hotel at a fair price - and you can walk to anything in the old town in Hanoi from here, too!

We stayed here for two nights as part of a Halong Bay Cruise package that we had booked. Overall, the rooms were great and the staff were friendly. Our first night, we stayed in a room that was near the elevator and we heard almost everyone that came to and left our floor. The bathroom had a window that led out into the hallway, which we thought was a bit strange. The second night, our room was much better as it was away from the elevator. We weren't too impressed with the food at the restaurant, but overall it was a decent place to stay and close to the old quarter.
