Nice hotel, affordable, super location and very friendly staff. We stayed here two nights in august 2012, and can recommend the place. Situated right in the middle of Hanois old quarter, the rooms aren't so big, but the bed is comfortable and the bathroom clean, and breakfast is quite alright.

Ive stayed here a couple of times. The staff a reliably friendly, the hotel is clean and tidy, and the location is great. Breakfast isnt great value, or particularly good, but lights typical of most hotels and there are plenty of good quality places nearby.

Good location and helpful, friendly staff. Rooms are pretty decent except the hot water is never more than luke warm at best. Breakfast is average quality, but there is a decent variety of foods.

Rooms small but very clean and at a very reasonable price. Breakfast was very good. The location of this hotel is absolutely ideal for those who want to go exploring the old quarter, Hoan Kiem lake area. Plenty of places to eat nearby and lots of things to see and do. Staff were excellent; they were friendly and very helpful :)

We stayed in this hotel as part of a tour group for 3 non sequential nights. The location of the hotel is fantastic - right in the heart of the Old Quarter and within walking distance of most tourist attractions.

We found the rooms to be clean and comfortable but simple (and the heating was very welcome during cold days and nights). The staff were friendly and helpful, assisting us with train tickets and looking after luggage while we were in Sapa for a few days.

The breakfast choices were somewhat limited, however that is to be expected for a hotel of this price. I'm not sure if you can hear traffic in all hotels in Hanoi, but we also found the noise a bit loud at times. Other than that, a pleasant stay!

Room Tip: Do not stay above the 7th floor as the elevator does not the 8th and 9th floors and you will have to...

This was the start and finish hotel for an organized tour I had booked. The location was great and very easy to walk the streets of the old city, I was traveling on my own and felt it was quite a safe area. The rooms were very clean with an older style decor which added character. Overall a very pleasant stay with happy to help and smiling staff.

Watch out for shonky tourist advisors, as their are 5 x Hong Ngoc Hotel's, we stayed at Hong Ngoc 2 & 5, other than being 10 minutes walk from the heart of Hanoi, Hong Ngoc 2 does not have a lot to offer, the rooms are small, dated and their idea of a double bed is to put two singles together. The bathroom had been refurbished, and was average. I am sure you could find a better place to stay in Hanoi. I would give this hotel 2.5 stars on the five star scale. Hong Ngoc 5 was a better hotel, which I would give 3.5 - 4 stars, but the location was poor. If your tourist advisor does not give the address on your itinerary you need to find out which hotel you are staying in.
