personal preference. i am there for the food rather than the "shopping"... interesting streets... lots of things to be discovered.

A beehive of congestion-scooters almost hitting you. Little shops nice but common. You have to really look for the unique places.

Walking here is as well a fantastic experience as well a bit exhausting because of all the traffic, especially the motorbikes. However it’s worth to stay a few days in this enviremont

My adult son and daughter, my niece, my husband and my 8 month old grandson joined me in a quick visit to Hanoi. We were there for a few days. We stayed in the old quarter. It was very interesting. Lots of traffic which was mostly motor bikes. Lots of shopping which was fun!

The streets are very narrow and it can be overwhelming at first to get used to the incessant honking from all sorts of vehicles. Scooters are parked on the footpath so pedestrians walk on the road with vehicles whizzing by. The architecture is nice and there's plenty of places to eat and drink. Close to most major attractions. Lots of backpackers in this area. Plenty of hotels and hostels.

We stayed at the Tirant Hotel which is a 4 star, but what a hotel excellent. The rooms are big excellent bathroom and has everything you would need. The staff were excellent. We had dinner at the hotel, the food was excellent baut the price for Hanoi was too high.

When we arrived to the Old quarter, we thought what a chaos, but it is not, it is so special, the shops, restaurants, food everywhere, even the motos made Hanoi so cool. I would recommend this area of Hanoi, as it is simply amazing and special

Hanoi is nice but it’s very busy and polluted, with lots of rubbish etc - it’s quite run down but is a nice place to visit but our trip of 8 days was definitely too long! It also depends on who u meet in this place that can make or break ur trip as well - some of the locals aren’t very welcoming and lots can be quite forceful in trying to sell u stuff. Some people can even be very rude when ur buying or looking
Make sure u check reviews on places before u go to have the best experiences

What a place this is....it has everything! Great food, a real authenticity still very much alive in the streets, a beer can be had wherever you look, fun playing dodge the mopeds, anything you can possibly think of is for sale here, not an hour goes by where you don't see something that you've never seen before!

Absolutely loved it :-)
