“Visit with kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

Loved the Old Quarter, so different to Australian cities, nice to just walk around and watch the locals. Hired a Green Tourist electric car thing US$7 for an hour to drive around the Old Quarter, was great with the kids as they were tired of walking. You can hire them from the north side of Hoan Kiem Lake, opposite the Water Puppet Theatre. Shopping was ok, somethings cheap, some not. Found replica Converse shoes for $10. Lots of street food stalls worth just walking around and getting lost in the streets that all look pretty similar. You can always jump in a taxi at the end if you get lost.

“Great Place wander about”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

Nice place to walkabout. Bust during the day and night. So many streets to wander around.

Great choices of local food. Enjoy eating and drinking by the roadside too. Not forgetting the super cheap and lovely 'bia hoi hanoi'. Really nice to down after a long and hot day.

Have to brace yourself against the constant honking of vehicles while wandering around the streets.

Dropby those small and quaint places for a cuppa vietnamese drip coffee. They are the best experience.

“Interesting place to wander through”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

I enjoyed wandering through the Old Quarter. There were plenty of good restaurants, art galleries and souvenir shops to look at.

You do have to face the normal annoyances of street vendors, but as long as you walk politely past and don't make eye contact, you will be fine.

Try and go out and enjoy some of the restaurants. We loved Essence Cafe!

This is excessively interesting but be prepared to be mentally exhausted in the constant dodging of traffic

“Crowed and interesting”

coming to hanoi, almost people walk around 36 streets in the old quarter to view the lifestyle in this place. there are a lot of things you can find here such as the souvenirs include lacquer ware, silk products, embroidered fabrics and bags, conical hats, coffee beans , paintings an so on.
