“Special pleace”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014

The Temple of Literature is a complex of a few court yards. Every courtyard is different.
In every yard there is a temple. You enter from one yard to another.
There are small souvenir shops between the yards.
In the last yard there is a beautiful temple. In The last hall there is a short concert with local musical instruments. The purpose of this show is to sell more souvenirs at an outrages price.
It is realy special, but make sure not to buy souvenirs you do not need.

“One of the few historical sites with strong Chinese influence”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

The concept of how the universities were run is interesting. there are no signs in English so consider getting a guide (additional fees). Its one of the few places in the old town (actually its a little out of old town) that is peaceful, and tranquil.

We noticed a few people missed the last section of the temple as there are no clear signs. Go around to the end and the last section is really very nice. Also note the 'bonsai' trees along the way. If you look carefully there are small houses or miniature boats or people there.

Good for 2hrs.

“Peace in the Chaos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

The Temple of Literature is a great place to stop and reflect amongst the noise of Hanoi. Located not far from the old quarter and amongst bustling street markets, the temple of literature is a peaceful, beautiful attraction dedicated to learning. If you need transport, it seems like every motorbike and cyclo is waiting for you outside!! Across the street from the temple is a small lake - get here about an hour before sunset and watch the locals go fishing and get in their daily exercise - a great spot to people watch

“Calm amongst chaos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

A great respite from the chaos of Hanoi traffic! I love education and studying so really enjoyed this temple. Even if you aren't into academic pursuits this sight is a must see while in Hanoi. the gardens are beautifully maintained and a delight to meander through. I loved the temples and the Doctors' Stone Stelea.

“No much info”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

I went with my friend and she gave me more info than what was provided, but its expected b/c the entrance fee is quite cheap. It wasn't too big, you can get some nice photos.

I wouldn't spend more than 45 minutes in there.
