“Perfume pagoda”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2014

The boat trip to the pagoda was enjoyable and the pagoda itself is pretty nice, however it is nothing more than what one should expect when visiting a pagoda. We did the stair climb and walked alongside locals all the way up there. What should have been an idyllic walk turned out to be a walk amongst stands and eager Vietnamese sales people all the way up, however we found that it does have its charm.

“A really special trip!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

We did the Perfume Pagoda trip from Hanoi back in 2002, with our then 4 year old son. This was one of the most memorable days of our 3 weeks in Vietnam. THe bus ride from Hanoi was very comfortable, and then once we got into the little rowboats the scenery just became more and more spectacular.
Our 4 year old had no difficulty scampering up to the actual pagoda itself, so people with (reasonably energetic) kids should not be daunted.
Would definitely add this to your must do list. (Worth noting that we did the trip in November; may be too hot in summer...?)

“Great adventure.”

It is about 1 1/2 hour drive then an hour row boat trip there and back. Lot of steps but a cable car takes you most of the way to the top of the mountain and the budha temple.

This excursion is exciting for who seeking travel experiences beyond the beaten track. Cosmos Travel Vietnam Co., Ltd advise that clients should take the good shoes, umbrella while enjoying the boat trip on Yen stream. Please also prepare films to take pictures, because there are lot of exciting spots to admire.

“nice view, too hot.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2014

the view is nice we went when not-so-tourist- day so we didn't find any difficulties or bad treatment about local hassling around at the dock. there are some of attractions you can visit, to reach the pagoda you have 2 options : 1. Go with the cable car ( about 90,000 dong/person one way) 2. hike for about 30-45 minutes ( i am not sure) . we took cable car for go up the hill and chose to walk downhill after. It's better because go down is easy, think about the weather and humidity. It's really hot. And also, to enter the pagoda we need to take a lot of stairs. So, take the cable car and then walk down hill. Seriously. i am not really enjoy the trip because it takes a long time from hanoi and then we must sit on the boat for 1 hour (or more ) under the sun and go uphill. It's killing because you'll only spend about 25-30 minutes in each attractions. And don't go when chinese new year or any festival because you'll only waste your time to see nothing but thousands of people hassling around. Not a chance you can see the pagoda. And don't forget to give tips for the boat-ladies. 2 usd is the best deal. don't give them more.
