Owner description: This temple alongside Lake Hoan Kiem was built in the 19th century, and named after Saint Van Xuong. Confucian scholar Nguyen Van Sieu had a large pen-shaped tower built at the entrance of the temple in 1864, featuring three Chinese characters, Ta Thanh Thien, which literally means "to write on the blue sky is to imply the height of a genuine and righteous person's determination and will."

Cool place to stop by and see. Shows Chinese influence on Vietnam's past. The mummified tortoise was pretty neat... and if you stand over the bridge, you can see live tortoises swimming in the lake.

Nothing special but nice to visit. Only costs $1, so worth it. Great place to take pictures. This temple is very peaceful and provides many offerings....it's a Buddhist temple, therefore nice to see the difference b/w Buddhist and Confucius

looks better from the other side of the lake, the bridge is nice, I could say that is the best, but the temple hasnt any special thing , you have to pay a ticket to go inside, this is ok, its just 20.000 D, but they should use that money to renovate it

I love the temples I have visited in Asia and Indonesia, but this is one of the more photogenic . The feeling of timelessness is in the atmosphere and this is a kind of time-travle trip for me

Located on the Lake of Hoan Kiem, accessible by this elegant red looking brigde and is a shrine which is dedicated to General Tran Hung Dao, who defeated the Mongols in the 13th century. Ideal spot to take picture of Hoan Kiem district. Admission is just for 20,000VND.
