Owner description: A rare breed of turtle enjoys this popular lake almost as much as countless locals and tourists. Hoan Kiem Lake is a dynamic daily tableau, from morning walks amid locals doing exercises on the shore, to young couples water-gazing on park benches, to the multiple shopping and sight-seeing opportunities in the vicinity. Centrally located in the city, Hoan Kiem Lake serves as a massive home base, and provides endless people-watching and recreational opportunities on the edge of the Old Quarter.

“Pleasant lake to walk around”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

A nice break from the bustle of the old quarter. Eat at one of the many cafes and then take a relaxing walk around the lake on the path and escape from all the motorbikes.

“Nice area to see the locals”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

One could see many local people doing exercises, dancing, taking tea, painting by the lake. A good place for photos.
My 2 and 4 yrs old children enjoyed feeding fish by the lake. There wasn't that much space between the main road and the lake and so they couldn't run around freely. The paid area cost USD1 per person. There was a temple and not that much to see.

“Small but worth seeing”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

The view of the lake is nice and there are some interesting things to see. The turtle is the most interesting. This is the second time I have been there.

“Nice place for a stroll or a run”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Lovely lake in the Old Quarter. Very interesting old Pagoda accessed via bridge for small fee. Lot of families walk around the lake or do Tai Chi mornings and night - no problem to join in. Couple of restaurants and eateries with nice lakeside views, but can find much cheaper beers in other local bars. Unfortunately the footpath is not motorbike-free, so need to keep alert. Don't walk on the grass - not allowed.
