“Good to see the other perspective”

Good to see the other side of the story.
Some of the escape methods looked intriguing and dangerous.

“A few interesting exhibits on "The American War"”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014

This is the prison (the "Hanoi Hilton") where John McCain and many other American pilots were held during the Vietnam war. We went looking for more historical perspective on what they call "the American war" - There were 2 rooms we found that had information / exhibits on this period, but the rest was focused on the French colonial period (not as interesting to us). Also, the information presented was (of course) quite slanted to their political viewpoint, but we expected that.

“Better than expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014

Had heard that most of the prison had been demolished with only a small part remaining, so was not expecting a great experience. I was pleasantly surprised as it was interesting & large enough to give you an uneasy feeling of what it would be like to have been incarcerated there.

Very valuable to see, but you have to keep your good mood.

“Must see prison”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

Unfortunately only some of the buildings of the prison remain today but what is there gives you a vision of the enormity of it in years gone by. The museum displays information and artefacts from the revolutionaries during the French resistance. The brutality and cruelty of the French is clearly depicted in the displays and information. There are also displays and information about the Vietnam War, referred to by the Vietnamese as the 'American War'. Interesting museum, highly recommended.
