We are told continuously by guides that Uncle Ho lived a meagre life. Is house near his mausoleum whilst not particularly grand and certainly not a palace it can hardly be described as meagre. He visit here ins a worthwhile experience as it gives one a good understanding of how highly regarded Ho Chi Minh is and how revered his memory is.

To be able to see first hand on the residence of one of the great leader of the world.
They said "a Home is your castle..." and looking at someone's residence you can see the character of the owner of the house.
And to me, visiting Ho Chi Minh's Residence open up my eyes not only to his humble character but also understanding his dreams and seeing his works on the country....

Flock in the tourists. No different than seeing Mao's place, or Washington's . If you're emotionally hooked into them -- great.
Loved the garage with the sign that said Ho Chi Minh's used cars.
Come to think of it, with that many tourists, maybe they couild sell a few on the spot?

Worth visiting whilst in Hanoi. Very well tended and if nothing else a tranquil retreat from the madness of the streets.

Uncle Ho felt this place was too big for him, being a man of the people and not needing the trappings of great office around him. However, a walk around the grounds is restful and relaxing and provides significant insight into the great Uncle.
