“Fascinating”
Reviewed May 25, 2012

We went to this museum at a weekend and it was absolutely packed with locals so was very noisy- maybe best to go on a weekday. I recommend getting a museum guide (ask at the front desk when you pay) as although there are some English translations, I feel we got a much better overall idea of Ho Chi Minh's life and Vietnam's history than if going round on our own. The guide also explained the symbolism behind the way the museum/exhibits are organised, which I may not have realised without her.
Overall very interesting experience and worth a visit if you are in Hanoi.

“Not a normal museum - go see it”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

At only 25,000VND it's well worth a visit. The exhibits are presented in a really artistic way - almost more of an art gallery than a museum - we loved it. Also, the area around this building is pretty and you can see the guards (or were they soldiers...?) marching about. They seem to be enjoying themselves a lot! The museum is also very near the mausoleum so you can go to both in one day.

“Interesting to learn about past and current Vietnam”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

We visited Ho Chi Minh Museum with tour guides from HanoiKids who provided an honest and sincere approach to their country's history. While we were there there was an exhibition on Vladimir Lenin which was interesting. The photographic exhibition provided a good basis in which to discuss many topics with our guides. The exhibition dedicated to 'Uncle Ho' was interesting and we enjoyed learning more about him and Vietnam's history before him, with him and since his death.

Tip - this museum provides little relief from the heat outside.

“Surreal but hugely fascinating”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

Really interesting. Positioned not far from his resting place, housed in a huge soviet-era building that kinda looks like a sporting arena - you've got a couple of floors of Ho Chi Minh history to work through.

Some floors are old school with photocopied information pinned to message boards and other floors where it is almost like an installation art experiment.

Found the history of Ho Chi Minh and in turn the story of Viet Nam to be hugely fascinating although the endless photographs of Uncle Ho only with kids to beging to be a tad disturbing by the end of the visit. There are a series of documentaries about Ho on youtube that provide the other side of the man the official version glosses over - apparently he had over 100+ aliases...
