the mausoleum and surrounding grounds are beautifully maintained and a reverent monument to a hero of Viet Nam.

“Interesting sight, long queue but waiting time was ok”
Reviewed May 10, 2014 via mobile

We visited this mausoleum on Saturday. Free entrance fee. The queue was very long, already started outside of the gate. A lot of local people are visiting.

But then the queue always moved forward, the waiting time until we came in into the mausoleum was about 20 minutes.

The mausoleum was pretty impressive. The guards made sure that the queue is moving, and we had about 1 minute to see the preserved ho chi minh body.

Interesting experience.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

This site is well worth a visit. The queue moved quickly, but was also a chance for us to ask questions of our guide (from Hanoikids - very helpful) and get a good understanding of the site overall. Yes, the guards do ask people to maintain a respectful attitude and behaviour, which is fair enough as Uncle Ho is the national hero.
Beautiful grounds and buildings of significance.

“A little eerie”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

One of the strangest sights to see in Hanoi. We lined up with lots of other locals and tourists for around 45 mins. The line is kept moving fairly quickly though. From walking through the main gates the line snakes around the grounds for quite some distance and a two different stops you hand over "knives" and any drinks, then large camera equipment. Once you make it to the actual mausoleum everyone files in, around and out in about 3 mins. Enough time to view a deceased embalmed Ho Chi Minh. It is all a little macabre, but after the viewing the grounds and gardens are well worth a stroll through. This place gets fairly packed out. The mausoleum has only a short opening time, so plan well in advance or miss out!

“A bit anti-climactic”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

The line-up was around the block, but it kept moving consistently. The security didn't allow any water bottles/juice bottles, etc. We had to toss EVERYTHING before we were allowed to continue through the line. We also had to check some items with security. After a while, you go through another security scan... Seemed a bit excessive. When you get there, it is a small, sombre room with Ho Chi Minh encased in the centre. The line keeps moving through, so no lingering.
