“Worth the visit..”

You need to be early to visit this place because it closes at 11am. Lots of tourist and locals lining up to enter the mausoleum where Vietnam's beloved former President Ho Chi Minh is embalmed and covered with a glass box. Security is tight and it is everywhere. Everyone is to walk in a 2 x 2 line starting from the entrance until you exit the mausoleum. No one is allowed to linger after seeing the former President as guards will usher you out. Also remember to wear decent and non-revealing clothes.

“an experience you will not forget.”

the line up and the guards making sure everyone was in the right place, no drinking no water bottles. and security checking - by the time we had snaked our way around the outside lines (under cover) and into the entrance (more special guards) up the steps and around the corner and whoa ! not sure what i was expecting to see but Ho Chi Minh looked as if he was asleep!
In a glass box granted, but restful.
We were filed in at a fast past 2 by 2 and out the door and that was it. long time to get there and a short time there. all of our group commented we would have liked more time. our tour gide said every vietnam person attempts to make this trip once in their life time. you have to pay and i noted our guide stayed outside. There were old men dressed in army uniforms, groups of older ladies in traditional dress, groups of school children in their uniforms, parents with little children, and - making this pilgrimage. And lots of tourists too. you are checked in security - bit like the airlines security. cannot take photos inside.

“Worth a visit”

It is worth a visit. Ho Chi Minh is very respected in Vietnam and there will be a lot of Vietnamese people who come and pay their respect. Important to note that the places closes at 11 am therefore it is important to go there early and you have to be dressed decently, not shorts or strappy tops are allowed. There will be quite a queue of people, mostly Vietnamese people, but the queue moves fast and therefore you will not lose a lot of time.

This is a must do if you are in Ha Noi, we were there on the public holiday celebrating the end of the Vietnam war, so there were easily several thousands of locals there to line up to take the walk through to see him.. However it was worth the wait to have the experience to see Ho Chi Mink in the Mausoleum.
