Open ony in mornings and I think it's closed Mondays like most Hanoi museums. Don't be dismayed if the entry line goes around the corner for waht seems half a mile. It goes quickly, is organized, and most of the way you are under a covered walkway out or rain or sun. Beautiful grounds.

We filed thru this mausoleum to see the great leader. Apparently his remains are taken back to Russia for refurbishing every so often.Their are huge line ups but we had a preferred pass that put us at the front. Nice gardens nearby.

to witness the awe and respect towards "Uncle". Everywhere silent and crowds very well disciplined - do not try to walk with hands behind your back unless you want a poke! Amazing to see the various groups - schoolchildren, families, veterans. The area behind is well worth a vist too - seems a million miles from the noise

We walked pass the Mausoleum without entering due to the 2 hours long queue. Security check was strict. We visited Ho Chi Minh's former residence instead.

Never actually saw the old boy as the attraction opens at 7am and closes at midday with the last entrance at about 10.30 am. To early to get out of bed and cue to see a corpse...not my thing. However, the mausoleum and the square and government buildings were great. Obviously they were the old French Colonial centre of things and they have been restored to a fantastic standard. You cannot go the Vietnam and not at least make a passing visit here. Recommend.
