Owner description: Anchored by the Peace Memorial, these gardens offer 50 acres of trails, fields and gardens, including many flowers, trees and concrete sculptures. Two small lakes offer swan boats and fishing spots, and an island in the middle is popular for couples. There are trails for runners and cyclists, fields for sports, and ample opportunity for bird watching.

Tiny by most Botanical Garden standards, poorly maintained, the laughable 2000 VND entrance fee surely cannot justify the wages of the surly gatekeepers. The saddest thing of all were the 2 cages housing peacocks in one and apes in the other. Reminiscent of something you would have found in the late 1970-1980's. On the day we visited, some local army firing range practice training was taking place in one area of the park - this did not make for the relaxed stroll through a leafy green retreat that we had anticipated!

Have been living in Hanoi for 3 months and finally my friend and I made it here. 2,000 entry. Really great place to get some green and escape the sometimes hectic city. There is no sitting on the grass but go to the grassy patch on top of the hill to the right or the entrance, heaps of people having picnics on the green there :) some really scenic lakes and beautiful old trees around too!

includes One Pillar Pagoda, Presidents Palace, Uncle Ho's home and the awesome Ho CHi Minh Museum, featuring his life, and the time - or the world in the 1920's - 40's and the revolution movement including the French and American involvements in the war.

More of an arboretum this park is an easy taxi ride from the Old Quarter (50-60 VND) and gives tourists tired of dodging motorbikes and cars a chance to walk or run on paved paths under the shade of historic trees. I hope the young man playing the flute is there for you to enjoy like I did!

We called in after a long walk through the city to visit the Ho Chi Minh museum/mausoleum and found it was a perfect spot to watch the world go by while enjoying a drink. We stayed for an hour or so, admired some very attractive vine covered trees, took a look at the aviary & then took a seat by the lake & watched fish jumping up to catch flies, gardeners working & just relaxed. If you are pushed or time I'd skip this one but if, like us, you have a few days & will be looking around on foot I'd highly reccommend for a lunch spot or drinks break.
