“Last motel but one of the most expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

We did a 16 day cambodia and Vietnam holiday. We stayed in all 4 to 4 1/2 star motels and this was by far the most expensive. The motel and service was excellent but so was all the other motels but we only paid $90 approx for other motels all in very good areas but paid $150. for this one.The travel agent booked all accc so don't know if Hanoi is more expensive .Only big problem with this motel is they allow smoking inside lobby and all inside bar areas.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for choosing us as your “home away from home” and for your comments about our hotel facilities and services.

I perfectly understand your feeling regarding the smoking regulation in the hotel. We are now working in adapting it. Even we are not going to be able to ban it totally; we will reserve more non smoking areas to make our non smoking guests feeling better.

We hope to welcome you back in our hotel soon. In the meantime, should you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us directly.

Best regards,

During my 18 years business trip to Hanoi, I have stayed in different hotels, but the last 10 years my choice was Melia. There is absolutely nothing to complain in Melia Hotel in Hanoi. I would strongly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a perfect stay in Hanoi.

Good quality and condition of rooms, pleasant professional staff throughout the hotel, free wifi in foyer

Breakfast buffet one of the finest I have experienced with attentive staff.

Ground floor cafe expensive snacks and drinks, nearby corner bottle store selling cold drinks beers etc. for the cost conscious traveller.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in November.
First impressions exceeded our expectations however once we got up to our room we realised why all the negative reviews on here.
Having stayed at a Melia in Mexico before this hotel does not live up to the name.
The rooms whilst big are dated are in need of a refurb, definitely not a 5 star room. I was woken in the middle of the night to next rooms phone ringing (so loud it was like it was right next to me) you can hear the conversations in the next room, showers being turned on, toilets flushing -private the rooms are not!
The other major let down is the wifi which haws been mentioned on here numerous times. I have been in Vietnam for almost 3 weeks now and this is the first and only hotel that charges for Wifi still, not good enough considering what you pay per night to stay here.
I won't be back when next in Hanoi.

Dear Madam,

Thank you very much for choosing us as your “home away from home” and for your comments about our hotel facilities and services.

I am very sorry to hear that we have not covered your expectations. The opinion of all our guests is very important for us; all the comments we receive are analyzed and used to improve our services. We will keep working on the area of improvements you mentioned.

Regarding your comments about the noise, I would like to inform you that we are now working on the hotel renovation process; we hope to be able to start very soon. The noise prevention is one of the points which are going to be improved.

Moreover, about our internet service, we are actually analyzing it with our Internet provider in order to find a more affordable rate for our client or even to include it for free. However, as you have probably noticed, we do provide free wifi internet in our Cava lounge, The Level lounge (executive floor), The Level rooms and both restaurants. This kind of room may be more suitable for your needs next time you stay with us.

Even I understand that so far you would not recommend our hotel, I do hope that you will reconsider it and give us another chance.

I really look forward to welcoming you back.

Best regards,

The service esp. that on The Level (Executive Lounge) has exceeded our expectation. Facilities excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. Overall, our experience with The Melia Hanoi totally memorable.

This was our base for exploring Hanoi, a buzzing bustling city, with crazy traffic but everyone gets on. We were lucky enough to get bumped up to a suite as the hotel was full. The hotel is not pretty externally, big concrete tower and is not well glazed - and Hanoi never rests so expect to get woken up early. In a number of ways the hotel is showing its age, but this is not a problem. Reasonable restaurants and not too pricy, though we found the tastiest food came via room service. Courteous staff, though lacking the final edge of charm we found in Siam Reap. Good fitness centre. Lots of business guests from around the globe so you can get pretty much every style of breakfast under the sun. Clearly also a good conference venue.
