I didn't find much to like about this hotel. I was there for 4 nights on business.
-the air con was only adequate at best
-the bathroom was tiny and I felt I needed a step ladder to get into the shower/tub combo
-I was upgraded to an exec room so it was a good size (didn't get the exec benefits though :(
-the wireless was on off on off and you can only have one device connected at a time
-the staff were friendly enough but not very helpful. On the spur of the moment, I decided to take a cooking class. I asked guest services to call a particular place to see if I could get in. She told me to take a cab and just go there. I insisted that she call and as it turned out, I couldn't get in. She didn't suggest any other places
-the breakfast buffet was fine (standard); the location fine though there are better places closer to the old quarter
-the whole place is kind of tired
-the gym is good -large with lots of equipment
-I give this hotel 3-3.5 stars

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as part of a tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. It is a big 5 star comfortable hotel catering mainly for business and the first impression is just that - a big impressive lobby with lots of marble and lots of guests milling around. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you could want. My only complaint is that the shower is over the bath and not that effective, with a curtain that allows water to leak onto the floor. Everything else was good. Breakfast was probably the best of the trip - with a good range of pastries, bread, cereals and cold cuts. The cooked breakfast wasn't bad although the sausages - were pretty horrible and the bacon - overcooked but seems fairly common abroad. There was also a range of asian foods - but after a few days of noodles and rice for every meal it's nice to tuck into an 'english' (style) breakfast.

The position of the hotel is good within easy walking distance of the old city and lake where there are lots of restaurants and bars. Also just round the corner is the 'Hanoi Hilton' -not a hotel but the name given to the Hoa Lo prison by the american POW's - worth a visit. Favourite restaurant was Quan An Ngom - a few streets up from the hotel (turn right on leaving the hotel - walk 2-3 streets and then turn right) - a very popular huge restaurant with good authentic vietnamese food at low prices.

So why not award the hotel 5 stars? If I was on a business trip I would but this was a holiday and I prefer somewhere slightly less formal - that is the only reason. I would stay again.

Wow........what a hotel. The staff employed at this hotel are outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beautiful and well maintained. The breakfast was the best I have ever experienced. The hotel was very well located as it was within walking distance to tourist sights but it was away from the manic pace of central Hanoi.

The rooms were clean with minimal decoration but ok . The people were helpful and friendly at the front desk in the lobby. The breakfast buffet had a good assortment of Western and Asian foods which was included in our room rate. If you do not bring a computer and use the hotels you have to buy minutes to use the internet and it is a bit of a rip-off because they have dial up internet and by the time you access the internet your time is almost up. We only stayed 2 nights and over all it was ok.

Room Tip: I stayed in 2 different rooms and both rooms were quiet.

I spent seven nights recently with my wife because I attended a conference held in the hotel. Conference facilities were very good from what I could tell. I paid about $135 a night on a a corporate rate and we got a free upgrade to a large suite with living room, bedroom and two bathrooms. The hotel is the typical high-end chain with good comfort but not much character. The suite was clean but also in need of some facelift in the carpet, furniture and bathroom. All the staff we dealt with were very friendly, professional and friendly. The hotel serves a very decent buffet breakfast with a large selection of western and Asian food, which was included in our rate. Otherwise we only had one meal in the hotel outside the conference, and it was a bit of a ripoff for Hanoi prices and a mediocre buffet. I think it is an OK hotel for business or if you are in a group tour, but I would not recommend it if you are vacationing on your own. Hanoi offers more interesting hotels.

Recently stayed here and the hotel seems to be on the brink of declining. Rooms need painting and the shower needs repair, shower head did not change settings, tub starting to rust.

No free wifi in the room, but there is in the lobby.

Room was fine otherwise, I heard you could pay extra 40USD per nite and get upgraded to better room with wifi and access to lounge with happy hour. Ask at checkin.

Took a tour to Halong Bay, if time permits this is a must.
