The location is not ideal for travelling as it is not centrally located, and restaurants, shops are also not withing walkable distance. The rooms are standard of Nikko, neat, clean, comfortable. The hotel is next to the railway, so you can feel the noise sometime. Japanese restaurant inside the hotel serve good but pricey food, better to try the local restaurant outside. Suitable for business or group tour as I would recommend.

Hotel Nikko in Hanoi was our first stop in our 32 day honeymoon of Vietnam. First appearances are very luxurious and clean Hotel. Staff upon Check in where very polite, professional and speak very good english. Our room was spacious and clean. Toilet is pretty funny, all electronic with seat warmer haha... Hotel is not located in the Old Quarter, but is apporximately a 20minute walk, so not bad if you like exploring by foot or jump in a cab it costs approximately $1.50 AUD. Breakfast was nice, large selection of western and Vietnamese food. There are also some nice cheap street vendors right around the corner from the hotel, we ate there numerous times and felt fine.

Overall, nice clean hotel with polite staff. We would stay there again.

.
We stood there with a group so we didn't pay attention to the location.
The food & the service is very good. If you have to change currency you can trust the front desk team.
the free Wi-Fi is a kind of advantage.

I don't know how Vietnamese organizations rates hotel but clearly this property rated at five stars does not deserve them.
It's clean, pretty well organized but, in my opinion, five star, is another story.
Few examples? Here we are:
- There is no separate bathtub and shower. The shower is very short and spray water on the floor.
- Toiletry soaps and other items are not that good
- Some part of walls of the room I got where cracked and some dirty
- Windows insulation from external noise are very poor. Despite being at 9th floor I could hear day and night the busy roads underneath
- Buffet breakfast and luch breakfast feature a bit of Japanese and International selection but that's it
- The fabric of the floor lamp in my room where dirty and spotted.

So, to conclude, I believe this property can be a decent four star but for sure not five.

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel, as part of a group, and the hotel is impeccably clean, with comfortable rooms, plenty of storage space, complimentary water bottles, heated toilet seat etc. Also good is that there is a smoking section in ‘La Brasserie’. And very obliging personnel ,particularly the bellboys are extremely polite and friendly and deserve extra praise. We left the group from Hanoi to visit Hoi An, and when we returned again a week later, early in the morning, we had the opportunity of leaving our luggage at the hotel for safe keeping until we departed for the airport in the afternoon.
That being said, there are some things to be critical of.
• Location – you need a cab to the center (on the plus side, it’s in walking distance from the train station) and there’s not much to do around the hotel.
• We had arranged for a local travel agent to deliver some travel documents to us and though we informed the staff at the lobby we’d be at dinner in the hotel-restaurant , and asked them to call us when the travel agent, they did not.
• Lack of free wifi, even in the lobby (you only get an access code if you have a drink in the bar).
• Extremely high prices at the bar.
• Breakfast in the second floor at ‘Tao Lin’, compared to the much better breakfast in the ground-floor in ‘La Brasserie’. Additionally, poor handling of a confusing situation. We were at the hotel as members of the group, and the first morning, I, with some others of the group, had breakfast in ‘La Brasserie’ – but my husband, who arrived later, was not allowed entrance and sent to the second floor. Which translated into being obliged to breakfasted apart. After that, we all were obliged to eat in ‘Tao Lin’, based on the argument that the hotel was fully booked and the quality was the same. Which it is assuredly not. For a five-star hotel, unacceptable.
• Dinner buffet might be very tasty – but also very disappointing for vegetarians.
• Very annoying was that on a daily basis we were told by the hotel, as a group, exactly what time we had to depart for our sightseeing tours, because there was some kind of (Japanese?) delegation staying at the hotel as well. This might happen for security reasons, but the truth is that when you spend your hard-earned money to travel to the other side of the planet, you wish to have a good and stress-free time, and not be forced into having to wake up extra-early and rush off because the hotel needs to have cleared the space.

Mainly the hotel and staff are nice and helpfull, location is good on the center of hanoi.

Room are simple even when take an executive suite at the nikko floor (15 floors) view is nice, but when you paid a large extra to be upgrade you expect a better setup then the normal room, exactely same setup, amenities, size, furniture, ect.... they have only add a shower cabin in addition of the bathtub, rest similar to otherbasic room.

Food are good but simple and pricely. We have take breakfast 4 times, and the buffet did not change at all. they could have setup a rotation on the dish they are serving, to avoid any routine.

Out of this small disapointment, their staff are very friendly and professional, they all go out of their way to help you, and provide to you pertinent information about the city, ect....

In short Nikko hotel is a good value for your money.
