.
We stood there with a group so we didn't pay attention to the location.
The food & the service is very good. If you have to change currency you can trust the front desk team.
the free Wi-Fi is a kind of advantage.

well located hotel, very clean and the service was very good, food ok and a pleasant bar, rooms large with everything you need good for weeks stay on business.
would recommend this hotel for people travelling on business not a romantic destination.

Room Tip: all seem ok

I don't know how Vietnamese organizations rates hotel but clearly this property rated at five stars does not deserve them.
It's clean, pretty well organized but, in my opinion, five star, is another story.
Few examples? Here we are:
- There is no separate bathtub and shower. The shower is very short and spray water on the floor.
- Toiletry soaps and other items are not that good
- Some part of walls of the room I got where cracked and some dirty
- Windows insulation from external noise are very poor. Despite being at 9th floor I could hear day and night the busy roads underneath
- Buffet breakfast and luch breakfast feature a bit of Japanese and International selection but that's it
- The fabric of the floor lamp in my room where dirty and spotted.

So, to conclude, I believe this property can be a decent four star but for sure not five.

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel, as part of a group, and the hotel is impeccably clean, with comfortable rooms, plenty of storage space, complimentary water bottles, heated toilet seat etc. Also good is that there is a smoking section in ‘La Brasserie’. And very obliging personnel ,particularly the bellboys are extremely polite and friendly and deserve extra praise. We left the group from Hanoi to visit Hoi An, and when we returned again a week later, early in the morning, we had the opportunity of leaving our luggage at the hotel for safe keeping until we departed for the airport in the afternoon.
That being said, there are some things to be critical of.
• Location – you need a cab to the center (on the plus side, it’s in walking distance from the train station) and there’s not much to do around the hotel.
• We had arranged for a local travel agent to deliver some travel documents to us and though we informed the staff at the lobby we’d be at dinner in the hotel-restaurant , and asked them to call us when the travel agent, they did not.
• Lack of free wifi, even in the lobby (you only get an access code if you have a drink in the bar).
• Extremely high prices at the bar.
• Breakfast in the second floor at ‘Tao Lin’, compared to the much better breakfast in the ground-floor in ‘La Brasserie’. Additionally, poor handling of a confusing situation. We were at the hotel as members of the group, and the first morning, I, with some others of the group, had breakfast in ‘La Brasserie’ – but my husband, who arrived later, was not allowed entrance and sent to the second floor. Which translated into being obliged to breakfasted apart. After that, we all were obliged to eat in ‘Tao Lin’, based on the argument that the hotel was fully booked and the quality was the same. Which it is assuredly not. For a five-star hotel, unacceptable.
• Dinner buffet might be very tasty – but also very disappointing for vegetarians.
• Very annoying was that on a daily basis we were told by the hotel, as a group, exactly what time we had to depart for our sightseeing tours, because there was some kind of (Japanese?) delegation staying at the hotel as well. This might happen for security reasons, but the truth is that when you spend your hard-earned money to travel to the other side of the planet, you wish to have a good and stress-free time, and not be forced into having to wake up extra-early and rush off because the hotel needs to have cleared the space.

Mainly the hotel and staff are nice and helpfull, location is good on the center of hanoi.

Room are simple even when take an executive suite at the nikko floor (15 floors) view is nice, but when you paid a large extra to be upgrade you expect a better setup then the normal room, exactely same setup, amenities, size, furniture, ect.... they have only add a shower cabin in addition of the bathtub, rest similar to otherbasic room.

Food are good but simple and pricely. We have take breakfast 4 times, and the buffet did not change at all. they could have setup a rotation on the dish they are serving, to avoid any routine.

Out of this small disapointment, their staff are very friendly and professional, they all go out of their way to help you, and provide to you pertinent information about the city, ect....

In short Nikko hotel is a good value for your money.

1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

We arrived at hotel Nikko at 13 August 2012 as part of our group trip to Vietnam.
At the beggining we didn't have any specific problems.
The next day, when we went to "La Brasserie" restaurant to have our breakfast we realized that our group was scheduled to have breakfast at "Tao Lin" restaurant. Unfortunately for the management, a small portion of our co-travellers had their breakfast the first day at "La Brasserie". However, the second day, the employes denied their entrance to "La Brasserie" and sent them at "Tao Lin" restaurant. At this time, these people could see the difference between the two buffets. When our tour leader kindly asked the manager on duty why this discrimination was made, and with which criteria our group was scheduled to have breakfast at this, inferior quality breakfast (definitely not 5*), she faced the Japanese arrogance of the management.
The first argument was that both restaurants offer the same quality of food. Both our co-travellers and our tour leader (has had breakfast many times with other groups that managed during 5 years of traveling to Vietnam) turned down this argument because the had personal experience. To make matters worse, the manager on duty continued to give us more ridiculous arguments. The second was that the restaurant "La Brasserie" is fully booked, which apparently it wasn't. Even if that was the case, why the didn't offer the same quality of food at the other restaurant? In vain we tried to convince him.
As a proof, I have attached photos of this breakfast (no bread variety, no jams apart from strawberry, etc...).
Other remarks:
- Internet connection is chargeable.
- TV channels are few and with horrible reception, the kept sticking to the same image.

Definitely not 5* star hotel, by means of services offered. We also asked from our tour agent to stop co-operating with this hotel.
Just let Japanese people stay at the japanese hotel; there are many hotels for us, the inferior non-japanese people, to stay in Hanoi. And definitely better!

Room Tip: Rooms are good, the bet here is the hotel as a whole and the services offered....

A fair deal. You get what you expect in the Nikko. Service is good as the space of the rooms. I liked the breakfast in the Chinese restaurant where they serve a very good Pho, which for me it's a must as breakfast in Vietnam.
Only point to consider is the location, slightly far from the Hoan Kiem lake.
