We recently returned home after spending several weeks traveling in Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. We spent two nights in Hanoi at the Metropole and were very happy with our accommodations. We stayed in a room in the Opera Wing. I had read some reviews that stated the rooms were small and crowded. I agree the rooms were not large but they were beautifully appointed and designed for comfort. We were on the 4th floor, not a club floor, but I was pleased to learn that there was free wifi in the rooms. My husband was traveling with his ipad and the front desk sent a staff member to our room to set up a router so that we could access the internet. In other parts of the hotel you have to pay for wifi but in you room it is free.
We had dinner one night at the Italian restaurant in the hotel and it was quite expensive but the food was delicious. We ate dinner at Club Opera across the street from the hotel and really enjoyed our meal.
If we return to Vietnam we would absolutely stay again at the Metropole. It is centrally located and within walking distance to many restaurants as well as the old quarter.More
